ka-bar sheath very rigid

ok i got my ka-bar in the mail today and the sheath is very rigid and doesnt want the knife to slide all the way in

how can i soften the leather?

murphys oil soap? hotwater then treat the leather?

You can probably wet form it if it's just the guard hitting the belt loop portion of the sheath.

After it dries:
You could use Kiwi Leather Conditioner, or Crisco Pure Vegetable Oil, followed by Natural Paste Shoe Polish.

DO NOT use Murphy's oil soap, Neats-foot oil, etc.

A stiff sheath is much safer from accidental blade penetration then a soft floppy one!

I use Neatsfoot oil on the loop, but only there. The actual sheath gets saddle soap.

No problems so far.
