Saw a Kahr P45 in Guns and Ammo at Wally World tonight... a true .45 pocket rocket. Any idea when these might actually start hitting shelves, and how many pennies I'll need to save up?

IIRC, it said capacity was 6+1; and I think it's only supposed to weigh in at 17 ozs. That would be an extremely light pocket gun in .45, dontcha think?

At least it doesn't have a little bitty two finger grip. The .45 is not fun out of pistols with a little bitty two finger grip.

Though at 17 ounces that P45 should really get your attention. :)

Nah, it'll be a pussycat compared to the 11.5 oz S&W SC360 Scandium .357 magnum.

I wish it was PM not P, but I can't wait to compare it to my PM40.

I won't get excited until I see one.

It looks like to me, that it's going to be the same general size as a P9/K9, but it will have to be wider.
So, it won't be a pocket pistol.

And if it's only 17 ounces.....
Well, a lot of people who shoot the 23 oz. Glock 36 think it recoils too much.....

I'm not real familiar with Kahr's, but if its the P series, that means a 3.5" barrel and not 3" right?

I wouldn't worry about the recoil. I find the Glock 36 to be an incredibly mild-shooting gun. Even if the recoil on the Kahr is much stronger, it should still be tolerable. But then I enjoy shooting hot .357 loads through my Taurus 605, so what do I know?

I think the article said thickness was 1"...
Hmmm. So it's as thick as a 1911.

Ok, I will go on record saying I will support the .45GAP if they'd make it in the PM series.

That's right, a smaller lighter .45, and I will be a fan of the GAP.

Hell has frozen over...

A PM40 sized gun in .45GAP is the only thing that could possibly get me to buy one.

A P40 sized gun in .45 ACP I'd probably find impossible not to buy :)

Yes the P40 has 3.5" barrel (minor difference) and a longer grip for an extra round capacity (which is what makes my PM40 carry so much better than my P40). Its not an enormous absolute difference but its important to me.

Basically if I can hide my P40 I can usually hide my Kimber Ultra Carry instead, but if I can't hide my PM40 I'm stuck with the Kel-Tec P3AT as better than nothing.

Even the PM 40 is a bit too heavy for most pockets, that's why I have the SC360 for large pocket carry -- <16oz fully loaded vs about 24oz for the PM40, although there is an extra shot with the PM40

If the gun is good and at the size mentioned, don't you think it spells the end to the GAP and the G36.

Folks have been really wanting a compact 45 ACP from Glock and Glock hasn't come across. Just like they refuse to make a slim line 9mm despite requests.

I'm a Glock fan and carry one but all those Kahrs could have been Glocks with some better market research. I still think the 36 is salvageable with some mods. Extend the grip and change that clunky mag and slim the grip by modifying the finger grips and the back swell - like Robar.

I was interested in the G36 till I saw it. The 37 with it's 21 slide, killed the interest in that gun.
