I stumble across this information on Wikipedia and then checked it with a Washington Post article. Kahr Arms was founded by Kook Jin Moon, son of Rev. Sun Myung Moon. they are owned by Saeilo Corporation a subsidary of the Unification Church International holding company. American made yes, owned... not really, Karh has also purchased Auto Ordnance in 1999. Now I have heard good things about Kahr firearms, generally accepted as good guns, but rather high on the price scale. Now I suppose much of the purchase price goes to the Unification Church, (Moonies as I've heard them refered to) not my money. I cannot recommend or purchase a Karh pistol now, I have to look in a mirror to shave every morning. You may be fine purchasing a pistol... don't care where the money goes, knowing that you are supporting the Unification Church, Not I.

Yet the same folks that won't buy a Kahr will buy weapons from the Russians, Chinese and anyone else making their favorite brand of the day. If it works and works well I'll consider getting it... and I currently own a Kahr PM9. Works fine and I have yet to beg money at the airport for the Moonies. John Moses Browning was a Mormon. Does that rankle and feathers? 10% of everything he made went to his church.

Most gun buyers don't care where its from or by whom its made, as far east as I go is Chech Republic and CZ. You may not be a Moonie but they are a non profit church in name only IMO and by buying a Kahr...

Really I couldn't care less about what religion backs what, with exception of one (that "one" being one that tried to subvert our own govt).

That said, I buy a firearm to have as good of one as I can get. If that is a Kahr or Para, so be it.

A high percentage of everything we own was made in Communist, brutal, human rights-violating, China.

What is so bad about the Moonie church compared to that?

Stainless K9 6 years. Groups great, hundreds of rounds and never a malfunction. I bet my life on it.

I was aware of the connection before I purchased my PM40. I don't agree with the "religion", but the Moonies are not predatory or overly harmful. There are a lot of people and companies that I don't agree with; that doesn't stop me from doing business with them. I still buy Heinz ketchup too.

I wouldn't purchase something if the funds benefited an Al-Qaeda entity...

So what? I've never understood the idea of not purchasing something based on the political or religious leanings of the seller. It's not like the Moonies are antis -- they own a freakin' gun company! I'd buy from the Bradys if they made good guns at a good price.

Well Jed,

I hope you don't read "The Washington Times", one of the nation's most conservative newspapers; it was founded by.........The Reverend Sun Myung Moon.

You have that right to not spend your money with that company because you don't like the founder's religious affiliation. We all have the right to shake our head sadly at such xenophobia.

I look in the mirror every morning. I own a Kahr. And I'm proud I support basic American liberties like that whole "freedom of religion" thing...

This is old news, and most people don't much care. I'm sure there's at least one employee at Remington, Browning, and every other gun company who's using some of my money for something I don't approve of.

Oh, Geez - write this on your Chinese computer and fill your truck with oil from folks who really love us - the Middle East, Chavez?

Such an old rant. :barf:

As long as Scientologists don't come out with a gun then, I'm OK with it.
I am not buying a Scientologist gun no-sir-e-bob.
