I'm goning to hope for the best and see what the combined R&D depts come up with.
Deals can be had on Desert Eagles if you just look around hard and long enough. I found a blued .44mag D.E. for $500, that had the original box, tool, and three mags at a local pawnshop. The only thing missing was owners manual and a quick call to Magnum Research solved that. Their customer service was outstanding, much better than Kahr Arms.

I owned several guns imported by MR, and none had any problems. I want a full sized Jericho in 9mm really badly.
I know 2 people with DE's and 3 with a BE/Jericho. One just got one in some oddball bluish nickel color. It's a new one with the rail. He got an aluminum laser that fits perfectly on the front end, and it looks like it's part of the gun itself, except for the color.
