Does anyone have feedback on a Kahr P45? Positive, or negative as related to concealed carry. My current carry pistol is a Colt Officer's Lightweight, and I am considering a change to the Kahr. Thanks...

Of the reviews I've read from actual owners, they all seem to like the gun A LOT.

The one "complaint" that seems to run in all of them, is the loaded magazine has to be pushed HARD to get it to seat when the slide is closed.

This is caused by the tension of the magazine spring and is common in mini-guns that fit as many rounds as possible in small magazines.

As is common with all Kahr pistols, the slide stop is almost impossible to operate when the slide is locked back on an EMPTY magazine.
Since allowing the slide to slam shut on an empty magazine on any auto pistol isn't recommended, this is a non-issue.

The Kahr manuals specifically state that the stop doesn't work well with an empty magazine in the gun.
With the mag out, or a loaded magazine in, the stop works just fine.

All the reviews I read say accuracy was excellent, and there were only a few minor problems with the guns during the factory-mandated break in period of 200 rounds.
After that, no problems.

I had one. It was accurate and a pleasure to shoot. Everyone cringed when I'd show them the gun thinking recoil would be nasty. I honestly don't think it is worse than a compact 9mm. Very controllable. Very accurate. Kahr has the shortest slide in height, this allows the grip to be a larger percentage of the overall height of the gun. Here's an example:

With my HK USP Compact, my pinky hangs off about 1/2 way. I can't really get it on there. On the Kahr, which is a shorter pistol - my entire hand can grip it. Yet the gun is shorter. That's because less space is used in the slide area.

Mine was finicky on ammo. Had some failure to go into battery issues. If you check the Kahr Club forum on Glock Talk, they discuss the details of the Kahr 45. Might want to look into that. There have been some reviews and threads on this forum also, consider doing a search. Kahr has corrected this issue with profile of the breech hood.

I got rid of it because it was too large for my tastes. I need something just slightly shorter in the grip area to get away with IWB carry. The Kahr45 was difficult because here in Florida, it is rare when you can wear an outer shirt to hide the buldge. 95% of the year, you wear just 1 shirt, anything more and you are sweating like a pig.

Now, in a smartcarry/thunderwear...it disappears completely, but I don't favor that method of carry. If you are up north and outershirt/jacket wear is very common, this will conceal very well!

Good luck.

I had a Republic Arms Patriot 45, a very light polymer frame 45acp now sold by Cobra Enterprises. It didn't feed JHP well at all - JHP was not recommended by the manufacturer. It weighs 20oz empty, like a G36 and is about 3/4" shorter than a G36. The recoil was horrendous.

If anyone knows how the recoil of the Kahr P45 compares to a Glock 36, I can probably find one to rent at a range to see what to expect from a Kahr P45.
