Just wanted to provide a summary of my range report on the above auto.

After much research I purchased a CW40 from the local gun shop. When I went to pick it up the owner said "I don't know why these cost so much, the slide is rough and gritty. If SA could only make this single stack....blah,blah". Wasn't too comforting considering I just dropped $ on the gun.

I should mention that I didn't strip and clean, polish, oil...the gun, just took if out of the box and headed for the range.

Anyway, over the next 3 range sessions I put ~300 rounds thru the CW40 with only 1 FTF, which occured within the first 20ishs rounds I shot. I've mixed up the brand and type of ammo fired and other than that first FTE the gun has performed flawlessly. I have yet to take it apart and clean it.

Initially the shots were a little to the right. I blamed that on the fact that I am LH and I had only shot double stacked auto before. After shifting my grip, the shots hit the 9-10 ring consistently.

No issues with recoil nor follow-up shot.

I now CCW the CW40 on a daily basis.

This does not bode well.

I carry a K40, so I completely understand the love for Kahrs. They are fantastic, but....

You have a gun that probably still has the original packing grease on it, and has 300 rounds worth of crud in it.
Do yourself a favor and clean it, then continue to carry once it's clean. The gun may function reliably so far, but why in the world take the chance that once it gets 301 rounds worth of crud in it it starts jamming up?

What he said. ^

Every new gun should be thoroughly cleaned and properly lubricated before it's ever fired.

This also gives you the opportunity to check to make sure the barrel is clear and all parts are in good condition and in good working order. I personally don't trust anyone's QA/QC these days.

The only real complaint I have heard about them is they can be rather hard on the hand esp. those cheap plastic guns.

Gees wonder what this guy would have said about a Kel Tec

My CW40 is my favorite OWB carry pistol, although it's the cheapest gun I own. I did prep mine before I shot it, but it has been 100%, and for some reason, I shoot it very well. I have several 40's and 45's that are similar in size or a bit larger, but the CW is the thinnest and lightest of the bunch. I hardly notice it on my belt. If I can't belt carry, a PM40 is in my pocket.

As an update, I took it apart, cleaned and oiled it. Ran another 100 rounds of flawless rounds thru it. Spring/Summer CW40. Winter/Fall XDSC40.

I have a Kahr PM9 and the factory really soaked mine in oil so much that after I pulled it out of the plastic bag they wrap it in I had to totally wipe it down.
I then stripped it and hosed it's parts down throughly with Gun Scrubber and then lubed it with Break Free CLP and went out and shot a bunch.
I love my Kahr.
Great guns!!
