Kahr CW40

I bought a new CW40 on Thursday... It had to be shipped back to Kahr today. I ran about 150 rounds through it on Friday. The only issues I had were on the first couple of rounds, the gun was tight and wouldn't chamber all the way. After the first mag all was good. Friday night I was cleaning and noticed the part of the barrel that locks into the breach was dinged up in the front... Didn't look right for a new gun. So I went to see the dude that sold it to me and back it went.

Anyone else here have one of these? Any issues with yours? I'm leary now.

I have read other threads where they talk about Kahr barrel hoods peening.
I have noticed that on my PM9 there is about .003" slop front-to-back in the barrel/.slide lockup (as compared to .0005" on my Sig 226). Although I have not shot the PM9 much, it may also experience peening due to the "large" lockup gap. It is very important for manufacturers to keep this gap as small as possible so that during percussion, the barrel lug doesn't get "running start" and slam into the slide. Another thing I noticed about my PM9 barrel - it is at a Rockwell C-hardness of 45. This is probably too soft for the lockup surfaces if they are also at this hardness. Factor in the lockup gap and you have inevitable peening. Other manufacturers start with a soft barrel, and then surface treat the lockup lugs to at least 50 Rc and keep the lockup gap very small.

I don't know what the construction is on the CW40, but if it is not hammer-forged and treated to an Rc 45, then Kahr could be experimenting with surface treating the lugs which is not an easy task.

Nowadays before I buy a gun, either new or used, I check the lockup slop.
