I purchased a new CW45 about a month or so ago, ran almost 300 rounds through it and am having some issues with the gun not going back fully into battery. It's pretty much been this way right out of the box. Also, if there is a round chambered, you have to discharge the weapon to unload it!:what: I haven't found a way to unload it yet without firing the gun. This is a major concern for me as i do not want to own a weapon that isn't fully functional and reliable. Have any of you had experience with this gun with similar problems? or any experience with Kahr's customer service? Thanks in advance for any responses or suggestions.

Cheers,

I definitely plan to. I was just curious if there are others who've had the same issue, or what the consensus is on Kahr's customer service.

I have to ask what is the exact nature of the difficulty to unload? I would appear that dropping the mag and then racking the slide to eject the live round isn't possible. How is that?

One issue may be the ammo itself - no mention of what it is and if it's continuing to do the same with other brands or loads. If so then the chamber would be more suspect, but until then there's no evidence. Doing that would be more appropriate up front than "call Kahr." It would provide more answers to questions that will need to be solved regardless.

Is it happening with any other magazine? Another issue. The primary causes of weapons malfunctions across the board are magazines, ammo, and then operator error. The problem solving process requires proving that it happens regardless of magazine, ammo, and that the operator isn't inadvertently mishandling the gun. And the latter cannot be ruled out until some mechanical part is proven the culprit.

Need more data to solve this.

I have had the unloading issue happen with WWB, Hornady critical defense, and with reloads. Plus it's failed to go into battery with all 3 as well. I'm thinking a really tight chamber? Gun is to be returned this week on their dime so, we’ll see what they uncover.

Yep, that sucker needs to go home to the factory. Failure to chamber with three different ammo brands, it has to have an out of spec chamber. I'm sure Kahr with make it right.

My early PM9 had a couple of failures to return to battery during its first range session, but smoothed out in subsequent trips.

Have never heard of anyone on the Kahrtalk forum have the unloading experience you stated. I drop the mag & rack the slide on my CW45 to unload it all the time:

I had that problem with some reloads. A factory crimp die solved the problem.

Had one had lightest trigger ever felt.got rid too dangerous

So I got my pistol back today and so far it has ran smooth as silk. I ran WWB, reloads, and some Hornady critical defense ammo without any issues at all. Kahr replaced the barrel as the chamber was under sized. all in all I am pleased. Thanks for the input folks!

Glad to hear it got your gun straightened out. The CW45 is a nice compact pistol. I really like mine.
