Somebody Tested The Kahr CW9? How Feel Shooting This Gun?Aspects?Reliable?Precise? I Think To Buy One Of These.

Just got in from shooting the CW9 - fine Kahr double-action trigger that feels nearly like a single-action; recoil is quite managable (but then I shoot .45 alot) - I wasn't shooting for accuracy today but I see no reason that it wouldn't let most shooters achieve good results; particularly for a defense gun where ranges will be under 7 meters.
My particular example is of good manufacture, except for the cosmetic issue of machine marks inside the slide, and those not too bad.

I've had one for a few months, got it for my younger daughter. I've put about 1500 rounds through it without a problem, mainly handloaded 115 grain JHP full-power loads and some commercial loads just to check it out.
After 1500 rounds it's still working perfectly. I normally only shoot single action pistols, Hipowers andn 1911's, so was a little nervous about the double action only part. However, the pull is very, very smooth and not heavy at all, I can shoot 3" groups at 15 yards with it, which I consider more than adequate for a carry gun.
The only "downside" is that it weighs about a pound. If you go out and shoot a couple hundred hot loads your hand will hurt. Due to its light weight it makes the 9mm feel like a 40. The last time we took it out my daughter asked to shoot my 1911 "to take a break from the recoil". The upside is it's very light, and very thin, incredibly easy to carry. The other downside is factory mags are about $30 each. I broke down and bought some Promags from www.44mag.com for $10 each and they've worked perfectly so far.
The other downside is now my wife wants one, so have to start saving more of my gun money to buy her one.

I really like my PM40 so I picked up a much cheaper CW9 for cheaper practice and to not always have to clean it aftwards.
Mine self-destructed in less than 25 rounds -- front frame rails warped. Kahr replaced it but service was less than quick -- three months+
Seems to work fine now but had a fair number of click instead bang in the first couple of hundred rounds -- all went off the second time.
I think they may have cut a few too many corners to hit the price point, but if you get a good one what's not to like?

Since Kahr first went in business (I've one of the early MK9's), their manuals state a 200 round break-in period.
My little MK9 had no problems at all...although I understand some of the early models did have problems.
That CW9 sounds like a nice weapon...I'll have to take a look at one. I see it's about 6 oz. lighter then the MK9. I also just looked at the spec sheet for both CW9 and MK9. I'm amazed how much the MK9 has increased in MSRP: $741.00...I paid about $550 for my MK9 about 6 years ago.

I had one of the first ones out around 10 yrs ago, p9, it was very unreliable, and I really liked the fit and weight for carry. I have said many times in her and elsware, it's not a cheap gun like a kelltek, and two jams is two to many for me, I just refuse to carry a gun that jams every few hundred rounds. Even though I like the newer models, I can't get over the hesitation. And it seems i'm not alone.

MY CW9 has been my favorite gun for almost two years now. The Glock G19 got sold.
The Kahr's smooth trigger is a particular delight. The slim grip feels just right and the low recoil makes you want to shoot some more even after three boxes of ammo. And the accuracy? Excellent and just plain amazing for such a small pistol.
All this for $400.

I love my cw9 its light weight, carrys great, accurate, no problems, after 80 more rounds I will be carrying it with no worries at all.

Ive been a Glock fan for years and currently carry a department issue Glock 17 as my duty weapon. However, as for off duty, my every day carry gun is Kahr CW9 with 124gr Speer Gold Dot (department ammo) and I LOVE it. I carry mine in a Hidden Ally holster from High Noon Holsters and its a great combination.

The only modification I have made is adding a Hogue grip sleeve to it because I found the grip to be just a tad too small for me. I would advise anyone looking for a nice concealed carry gun to take a serious look at the Kahr series.
I'm also kind of curious to see the new .380 ACP they are coming out with.

After getting some practice with the Kahr trigger, I'm suprised at the accuracy of my PM9 every time I shoot it.
Even with a 3" barrel, a short sight-radius, and a long double-action trigger, I hit a sporting clay sitting on the berm at 60 yards yesterday.

There seems to be a fair number of "light strike" reports on the CW9. Mine did, but the problem was solved by replacing the striker spring. Other than that...it is a very appealling carry gun.

on the barrel, but IMO the barrels are irrelevant to the over all quality and workings of the gun itself. The slide stop on the cw is MIM part where as the PM are forged, again never heard of a MIM slide stop every breaking on a kahr either, .

I certainly wouldn't let the difference in the type of barrel rifling deter me from getting a CW, but a few years ago I remember reading about how much more velocity is achieved due to the polygonal rifling and it was impressive.
