Hello All
I spotted a Kahr E9 for sale in average cond.
been searching the web for any/all info i could find and not many reviews
so far.
kinda wondering what one in average to above average is worth?
I see its the economy version of the K9. only one on gunbroker and none on the other auction sites.
regards

Ohohoh!

I have one. Got mine so used that the finish was gone on where the hand goes. I took it home, shot it, and been preaching the Kahr ever since.

Calling it an economy E9 is pretty accurate to be honest. But in certain ways that's more a boon than a crutch. Do you really *want* a huge billboard on the side of your gun? I know I don't. While it's nice to have the smooth interior of a slide with no machining marks ,which my example of E9 does have ... it's just not polished, and that's where the crux is for me.
The E9 has the "fit and finish" were it needs it and much less intrusive markings than the K9, it shoots equally well and has a different slide material as well. But considering that the average Kahr is way overkill for the average shooter I have full faith in my E9 holding up even to my heaviest shooting...

So ... my advice? Snatch one of those buggers up, mine not only didn't let me down ... mine converted me to single stack DA guns.

I would expect to pay $325 to perhaps near $400 for a really nice example. The E9 has a carbon steel slide instead of stainless. They came two toned or all black. They have a pinned plastic front sight. If I recall they have conventional rifling (could be wrong). Do a search on this web site and you'll find some info. They are every bit as reliable as any steel Kahr... good gun, reliable and accurate. If the price is right you'll have a fine pistol.

I keep reading that, too, but mine has polygonal rifling. And I'm pretty sure (about as sure as I can be, right?) that it's unaltered.

Oh

thanks for the response.
i see one used and they want 330.00$
from the info i could gather is seemed like a good price.
didnt bother to look it up in a book as i dont have that book.
thanks

The best description I could give would be that the E9 is to the K9 what a CW9 is to a P9. They haven't been made in a while and the bluing seems to not hold up well on them. Kahr is phasing out a lot of the parts for them and it would seem that the K9 parts don't always fit.

Also, there seems to be some differences between the E9 models themselves. Look at these two. The shape of the frame and the mysterious protrusion right below the slide stop on the top pic make me wonder how different the early ones were from the later production Stainless models and K9's.

That odd, extra screw had folks on a couple forums scratching their head in wonder. I'm guessing it was added by an owner and not a factory item. Perhaps one of those clips that people install to allow them to hang the gun on a belt.

You are sure right about there being variations of the E9;
Hard plastic grips/ rubber grips
Carbon/ stainless frame and slide
Color mix
Old frame style/ new style.

More changes made to that gun than to U.S. tax laws. ;)

The slidestops are interchangeable. My E9 has a K9 slidestop right now. When I asked the rep whether the parts were "generally" replaceable he said a resounding "Yes." no qualifiers, nothing.

The screw is stock to the E9, as mine has it, too. It doesn't appear to be an aftermarket piece. Although what it does is beyond me. I looked on the inside where it is and there's nothing of any interest there, so who knows, right?

But there does seem to be some sort of variation going on. Although frankly I'm wondering if the second picture isn't a K9 frame with an E9 slide.
