Kahr in Colorado?

Shmackey,

Call Tom @ Tom & Joe's Firearms. (303) 231-0998.
12627 W. 32nd Ave.
Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
(In the Applejack's Liquor shopping center)

TINY TINY shop, but absolutely the best prices in Denver. I never buy anywhere else.

I'll second Tom, and he usually has a Kahr or two in stock. They're becoming quite common backup/off-duty guns since Denver authorized them.

If you just want to play with one shoot me an e-mail - I've an MK40 that just sits in the safe. I'm allowed 9mm or .45, but keep this little gem just because I like it.

Pretty sure Dave's Guns on Parker Road had them last time I
was in there. Been about a year though.
Don't expect great prices.

Steve

Dave's has 'em, as does Sportsman's Warehouse. The Shootist has had a few, but I think they're out just now.

If you want, you can shoot my K9 Elite (which I had Gunworks order for me, btw).

Tom, arrogant?

He's always been polite, friendly, and professional with me and everyone I know.

Jensen's is a good shop too, and worth the trip.

Tom seemed like kind of an odd duck but perfectly professional when I went in there a while ago.

Held an MK9 today. Could be the one...

Greg, make sure you at least dry fire the bugger before buying - as a SA aficionado the long trigger pull takes some getting used to.

Also, bear in mind that the MK series are HEAVY, which pretty much rules them out for pocket carry, but makes them sweet shooters. Hence the PM series, which I plan to get in 9mm soon.

Yep, I dry fired it a few times. As you know, I'm a 1911/target guy, so yeah, DA is not my favorite, but I found the Kahr much better than a Sig. The only thing I didn't like was the grip length, but it's short for a reason.

I know the MK9 is half a pound heavier than the PM9, but I had the opportunity to drop it in my pocket and it wasn't bad at all. Of course, it was unloaded, and seven rounds might just put it over the top.

I'm taking my CCW course next week, so I'll have my permit in a few months. Plenty of time to find a PM9 somewhere. I plan on pocket carry most of the time, especially because I'm going to sell my Kimber once I get my Colt back from Ted Yost. The Kimber's great but it's no Yost custom.

Tom let me put in a snap cap and dry fire the PM9. I don't mind the trigger pull, in fact I think it's a little too light to put in a pocket without a pocket holster. That's ok though, since I'd want a pocket holster anyway to ward off the grit and the lint. The grip is very short, but I think that's perfect for pocket carry. I'd use the longer mag that is supplied with the gun for IWB holster carry.

I think the PM9 is probably the best pocket gun out there in terms of caliber vs. size and weight, but I'd like to handle a Rohrbaugh before I buy the PM9.

I believe it was right around $500 for the one I was looking at. It had the stainless slide, (didn't have the new black finish on the slide) but can't recall if it had anything else like night sites.

I'd just give him a call tomorrow and ask for a price if you can get a hold of him. He spends at least 1/2 his day on the phone either quoting prices or calling CBI. 303.231.0998

I don't know if CBI has their problems worked out, but apparently budget cuts forced layoffs at CBI, and the "instant check" is taking an hour or two per transaction.

BTW, did you ever visit Dean's Guns on Colfax? Worst prices ever! Good selection and helpful staff though. The owner "retired" and the store is (or already has) closed. I suspect people just got wise to his prices. He should have to USE a gun to get people to pay his markups.

Green Mountain Guns over at Kipling/Jewell is the next best place to buy in Denver IMO. Good selection of new and used guns, and pretty good prices.

That would be a very good price for a new PM9.

I used to go to Deans every couple of months--in part because I worked close by and in part because I wanted to see if anyone clued them in about their prices. That said, they did offer to cut me a deal on a pistol once, so maybe they were just putting out sticker prices and pretending to sell cars.

Green Mountain is good, but my favorite is Gunworks at Wadsworth and Kipling. Their selection of handguns doesn't compete with Green Mountain, but they're good people and they have an excellent smith in the back.

Shmackey,

I agree with The Gun Room of Colfax at Carr having great people. They also have an ever changing selection as they have a lot of consignments.

I have a Kahr E9 that I bought at Jensen in Loveland, but not sure that they carry Kahr anymore. Bought and MK9 Elite 98 from the (Pueblo) Gun Room at a Tanner show. Couldn't be happier with the MK9 (especially for $400)! The slide stop snapped in half on the E9 last weekend when I was at the range. I have another one on order. Other than that no problems with the E9.

Where exactly is the shop by Applejack? I have never seen it.

If you want to shoot an MK9, email me and we can arrange to meet at the Silver Bullet or something.

I don't think the Kahr MK series is too heavy. I carry a MK 40 daily in a pocket holster. I prefer to have a slightly heavier gun that I can shoot better for follow-up shots. Not as small as a .25, but if TSHTF which would you rather have?

KarlG,

The shop near Applejack's is Tom & Joe's, and it's very easy to miss, even if you're looking for it. It's between the Old Chicago and a barbershop close to 32nd Ave. When I say small, I mean small. Picture the kitchen of an average 1 bedroom apartment. This shop is a bit smaller. But, the savings on not renting a big space are passed to the buyer. He usually stocks several of whatever his top sellers are at the moment, but anything other than that you'll probably have to order & wait.

Exactly. I was probably in front of Tom and Joe's a dozen times before I knew what it was, and I was looking for it that time. It's like a Fotomat or something (remember those?).

BTW, how great is this forum? I have a half-dozen people offering to let me shoot their guns. I think I'll take Morgan up on his offer, as he somehow owns one of every gun I'm looking at. (And Morgan, if you want to help break in my Trailside, you're more than welcome to.)

<Just be prepared to be slapped around and abused if you go to Tom & Joes-that guy is RRRREEEEEAAALLLL ARROGANT!>

Tom arrogant? You must have caught him having a bad day.

I've known Tom well over ten years and he's my only gun dealer, period.

He was selling the PM9 for approx. $500.00 and this was about three to four weeks ago when he had a few in stock.

Tom also has the best ammo prices here in town as well.

I visited Tom & Joe's today with my 4.5 year old son. It was small . My son liked it because it had a Coke machine and with candy on top. Not much to look at. There were about three customers in there who seemed to be having a good time just shootin' the breeze.

Not impressed. Not turned off. When it is time to buy again, I will aske there.

It was probably the same 3 guys that I saw in there today. There are always at least 2 guys hanging around in there. I asked him about it one time, and he said some of his regular customers stop in 3-5 times a week.

I like to check out the used case at least once a month or so. I saw a stainless 1911 for $450, a Sig P220 for $450, a Beretta 92 for $399, and a few others.
