On my K40, ser. # DF78xx, there is no rollpin visible on the right side of the frame, just in front of the slide stop pin. All pics of the 40 I've seen have it, as well as many 9mms. Can someone enlighten me? Thanks!

I haven't heard of Kahr changing the slide stop retention method, but the roll pin is used to retain a wire spring in the right side of the frame of all steel frame models.
This spring retains the slide stop and gives it the downward spring tension.

Unless Kahr has made a recent change, I don't know what's going on with no roll pin.
Possibly they changed it to use a crimp or stake mark to hold the spring in place.

Here's a current picture of the K40 on Kahr's site. It clearly shows the roll pin, part 30.

Thanks for the info. I just grabbed this today used, unfired, with 3 holsters. I didn't ask the previous owner how long he'd had it. Must be a newer run, and some changes were made. I'll peek at the area next time I strip it.

I don't remember the details but there was a difference in the slides between early and later k-models. I bought a used k9 from an older gentleman at a gunshow and was trying to determine how old it actually was. I can't remember exactly what the changes were or when they happened but if I find that I saved anything I will post it.
