I am now looking at the Kahr K9 in Stainless. The question is does anyone have one and how do they like it. I have heard there Cust. Service is great.

I have an older K9 in the now discontinued electroless nickel finish and the night sights. Mine has been quite good, with the gun regulated for 115 grain ammo. It's pretty accurate with factory ammo, but I've not had a chance to do any serious handloading to compare. My experience with their customer service is good, but others have been less than happy. I did have to return a magazine due to it not falling free when released. The owner's manual specifies that you must replace the recoil spring about every 3000 rounds or so. The trigger pull is great. I like their designs, but things such as holster selections are not as common as they are for other guns.

I have one of the older (non-Elite) e-nickel ones, also. Purchased after research on TFL some time back. Works every time, long but smooth trigger, tough to eject loaded 147s from the ejection port when unloading, amazingly easy to hit with, who cares if it's heavy-it's in a good holster on a good belt anyway. No personal experience with return/repair :) .
 
Also have older nickel K-9 (Lady version). No need for customer service, except for ordering extra mags and recoils springs (every 2,000 rounds). Mine has the "4 mile trigger pull", which, being used to revolvers, I had no problem with. I understand newer versions have shorter trigger pull option. Quite pleased with my K-9, especially for one-handed shooting, either hand. Despite the fact it said "Lady", I carried IWB daily for about 2 years. Loaded, mine weighs exactly 2 pounds. Great for controlled rapid fire, but somewhat heavier than I wanted to carry, especially in warm weather. ' Did, however, load up the K-9 and carried again for about a week a while back while favorite ultralight j-frame was loaned to friend. A very accurate, reliable old friend. These days, commonly used as training gun for students with smaller hands.
 
I have a parkerized one made around 1995 or 1996.

Quite frankly, with one major and one minor exception, it's a FANTASTIC little handgun.

Super accurate, easy to shoot, ultra reliable right out of the box for me, and lots of fun.

The minor exception is that this one is old enough that it doesn't really like 9mm reloads. Early guns had tight chambers, which often caused problems with reloads.

The major exception is the parkerized finish. It rusts no matter what I do. Wax it and it rusts. Oil it and it rusts. Encase it in dehumidified, sealed container, and it rusts. Well, it's not that bad... Maybe. :)

Kahr has said that I can send it back for refinishing, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

My experience with the company on other matters, though, has been very postiive.
 
The Kahr K9 elite98 has been my standard CCW for 4 years now. It is well built, with a high quality of manufacture and finish. Very accurate for it's size, and always a pleasure to shoot. It is rather slim, and conceals well. Has been 100% reliable....has never ever failed to fire/eject/feed/extract. The only downside is the Hogue grips, which are great for the range, but not so good for CCW. I prefer the stock plastic grips that came with an old E9 I had prior to the K9. Other downside is it's a bit heavy for it's size.

Once the P9 gets reliable, I may replace the K9.
 
I have an stainless K9 about 3-4 years old. EXCELLENT on all counts, It's now my CCW gun.

My gun has a stainless slide and frame, the balance of the parts, including the barrel are hard chrome plated carbon steel. I assume this is still standard on the stainless Kahr's.

Many years ago the "Gold Standard" of defence guns was the Colt Detective Special, then the Walther PPK. Todays "Gold" is the Kahr.
It doen't get any better: accurate, powerful, reliable, and the things are just somehow "right".
 
Shooter 45. I like your handle I have been CS45 on Shooters.com a while back. I really like the K9. This is from a dedicated 45 acp shooter. I have about 2500 rounds through my K9 with a total of 1 failure. This was a blazer round that would not fire. It did not fire in my BHP either. I have now shot my concealed handgun re-qualification course with the gun with a perfect score. I have shot two tactical handgun courses with Jerry Miculek at Bang inc. A tactical handguns course and a night combat course. The pistol is flawless and my scores have been very good, comparable to individuals with full sized guns.

I have shot everything in the gun from cheap FMJ to 124 +P+ JHPs from Federal the gun feeds everything with incredible reliablility. The Kahr is very accurate also.

I really like the gun.

I will post evaluations of both Bang courses with Jerry Miculek in a couple of days.

The T-9 that they are introducing looks interesting. A little larger platform and adjustable sights. Not sure how it will do in the market against some of the double-stack designs like a CZ-P01 Compact and other small 9mm's. There was an article about it in one of the gun rags. Had a nice wood wraparound grip.
 
The K series guns are hard to beat....literally. THE most reliable gun Ive owned was a 40 that I had some custom work done to.
None of which was done because it needed it....it was done because the little gun was SSOO good I wanted to tweak it more.

The T series really wont compete with the CZPCR/other dual stacks....more along the lines of the 3913 S&W and 239.......
It should give them a very serious run for their money......

Well I did not end up getting the Kahr. The price was a little steep and my dealer gave me a price on a G19 NIB that I could not refuse I use to have one a while back and loved it. Wish I did not get rid of it. So this was my chance for another. Oh Well .

Thanks for all the reply's though maybe a Kahr will be in my future.

What a dream...you can NOT go wrong with the kahr K seires.

1600 rounds with ZERO failures or problems AT ALL! It shoots MUCH better than I do and is very comfortable to carry and to shoot. I have had no dealings with their CS, but so far I cannot see a reason I would need to.

I have a parkerized K9 which I've used for about 4 years. I've found that it's a great fit for my hand, easy to shoot, very reliable, and surprisingly accurate for such a small pistol. It's quite comfortable for shooting hot 9mm loads, but I don't think I'd like it in a .40 auto.

I haven't had any experience with customer service, the pistol was great right out of the box. I don't think the trigger could be any smoother. I have to agree with Mike Irwin, though, it doesn't like my reloads. Also, it beats up my brass so that most of it is unusable for reloading for other pistols.

All in all, it's a great pistol. I use it as my summertime CCW, so I guess I can't rate it any higher than that.
 
Have K9 nickel. It started life with a mind of its own. I forget exactly how large the groups were, but three foot from bench at 30' would be about right. Two trips back to Kahr has it down to a reasonable size. The gun has always been reliable. My wife and father have difficulty working the slide. Of course, the reason rests with the K9's preference for +p ammunition. Sounds like a bad review, but I would buy the Kahr again. The small size, reasonable double action and reliability, make this a safe dependable gun.
 
The comparison between the Colt DS and the Kahr are spot on. I`ve had my DS 27 years without a burp and a Kahr MK9 Elite for a couple of years. The next generation of off duty or back up guns for police and great concealability for CCW.

If Kahr made a full size duty gun, it would give Glock a run for its money. One good thing about Glocks as duty weapons is the interchangeability of mags with their smaller brothers. That means a lot to bucks down coppers who like to shoot not to mention familiararity in intense situations.

I have a K40 that is my CCW and I like it so much I bought another just like it to keep it company. Of all the guns I handled and shot in my quest for a carry weapon, I was drawn to the Kahr K-series. I feel it has the best balance of trigger, size, capacity, construction and accuracy. I prefer the steel guns over the polymer line and, no, the weight doesn't bother me. Give both the .40 and the 9mm a try...you may be surprised with the controllable nature of the .40 in the steel Kahr.

the k9 and 40 are great guns, mine have been anyway, a friend just bought a recently manufactured pm9 and he loves it so far, I'm keeping an eye on his and may get one when the price comes down...tom
 
I have a K9, MK9, and PM9. I really like them all. The K9 is very accurate, reliable, and the low bore axis seems to me to reduce what little recoil there is to just about nothing. Quick recovery is the norm for these guns.

Haven't dealt with Kahr customer service, but there are quite a few posts indicating that they are slipping a bit (probably growing pains- my dealer sells every one he gets within about a week or less).
