I recently purchased a (good condition) MK 9.. On my first trip to the range to try it out rather dissapointed.. The pistol using Federal factory JRN would not pattern.. (Hold a consistent group from any distance) I would have done better with a shotgun shooting buckshot.. I am going back to the range tonight to benchrest this pistol.I will take along 4 or 5 brands of different ammo (as well as reloads) to see if this pistol is ammo sensitive..FYI ,,I shoot 3x a week on average and shoot about 500 rounds per week..so I still have a lot to learn but will say that I shoot more than your average shooter,,Has anyone had a similar problem with any of the Kahr MK series pistols?? Thanks .. DS:confused:

Nope. Any problems I've had with accuracy in the MK9 have been shooter and not gun.

Hmm, I doubt that someone shooting 500 rounds per week would have missed this, but what the hell, are you staging the trigger or pulling through in a single smooth stroke?

I started shooting much better when I finally let go of trying to keep everything *perfect* and just went with smooth, focused fire. This is revolvers of course but it still applies, there are only so many ways for a trigger to work after all.

Tell us more about your trigger pull style and I bet we can help out quite a bit more.

Exactly, Kahr's triggers are smooth enough where there is no need to stage. My PM9 which is just a polymer MK9 is extremely accurate for it's size.

My MK40 is more accurate than my Glock. I haven't had a problem making the occasional 1" group at 10 yards with it, though most are bigger due to flinching.

I spent a good deal of time and ammo getting used to the Kahr trigger. While buttery smooth, it's not like other trigger pulls. I was disappointed at first because I couldn't consistently hit with it. After a lot of dry and live fire I became very accurate with the MK9 and it is one of the most accurate handguns I own...amazingly so given it's small size and short sight radius.

I find my MK9 Elite very accurate for a small handgun. I like the little gun a lot and would have no problem hitting someone where it counts at 25 yards if needed.

I have an early MK9 and agree with TIMC. It is close to being as accurate as my G19. Regards,

Nail

Every time I take my MK9 to the range I am impressed with its outstanding accuracy.

Update.. Accuracy problem figured out..I was shooting factory 115 grain ammo from this pistol.. As soon as I moved up to a heavier grain bullet 124 Grain problem solved.. Thanks for all of your thoughts.. Now I will not have to send it back to the shop.. (anyone know where i can get some grips or fiber optic sights??? This is the older version and I can not find Wooden grips anywhere..)
