What size allen wrench do I need for the grip screws on my MK40 Elite 98 (it has the hex head ones, not the flat tip screws)?

I'm assuming its not metric (2.5mm is to large) and I can't find any standard allen wrenches in my tool box.

I wasn't aware of Kahr using hex grip screws. Is this something new that they are doing, or did you buy your gun used, perhaps? If your gun was previously owned, the person who changed the grip screws could have either got hex screws to fit the original thread (.150x50), or he could have re-drilled and tapped to another dimension.

Thats odd ... I've seen several Kahrs with hex head grip screws, yet when I went to their web site none of them had the hex heads ... I could swear I saw them on the web site before.

Maybe its something Kahr used to do (maybe it's an "Elite 98" thing).

Oh, I figured out what size it is ... it takes a 5/64" wrench

Okay, I've scoured the net looking for a pic of another Kahr with hex head grip screws.

Finally found them ... http://www.customarms.com/kahr.htm

(the pic seems to load real slow for me so you may have to be patient)

the grips also look like rubber instead of the plastic on my MK40 ... wonder if I can get rubber ones like that for mine?

Hex Head Grip Screws on your Kahr

The hex head grip screws on your Kahr are made by cutting down the length of the aftermarket grip screws for a 1911 as they are the same thread. I prefer the look of the slotted screws that come on the Kahr except I like them mirror polished. The wrench you need is the same as usually supplied with the allen screw sets sold for 1911s.
The size that fits mine is 3/32"

Best Regards,
Billy
