Kahr MK9 vs. MK40

For those that have shot both, which would you get? It will be used for pocket carry, some target shooting, and personal defense?

Steel or polymer?

I was wondering if the 40 has the hard recoil snap that the Glock does vs. the 9MM?

Is the Kahr polymer as durable as the Glocks?

Do a search and you'll find lots of opinions on the subject. The general consensus seems to be that yes the MK40's are snappier in recoil and that some of the PM9's (mostly older ones) have a tendency for their rails to seperate from the frames and for the trigger pin to cause peening on the frame.

PM40 for carry. Lighter weight means better dynamic in your pocket when you move making it much less obtrusive.

MK40 is more plesant to shoot but neither IMHO is a problem -- no trouble putting 200 rounds through my PM40 in a single session to be sure it was "broken in". I liked it enough that I jumped on a used MK40 at a gun show so now I have PM40 for carry and MK40 for practice -- less wear and tear on my carry piece which I still try to empty every couple of months as a test.

PM9 is OK if you think smaller holes are better for self defence or are expecting to miss and therefor need the extra shot.
