I've been looking at the Kahr PM9 and MK9 for a new concealed carry pistol. I've held both (but not fired either) and I like the feel of the MK9 better. Previously there were a number of issues related to reliability of the polymer Kahrs. Have these reliability issues been resolved. I currently carry a 640 S&W which weighs essentially the same as the MK9, so I don't think the extra weight of the stainless Kahr is an issue for me. I'd appreciate hearing the pros and cons of the MK9 vs. PM9 from those who have carried both.

Thanks,

Bob

IF you will carry it more than shoot it, you'll appreciate the lighter weight of the PM9. If you shoot it more than carry it you'll appreciate the extra weight of the MK9.

I have the mk9 and its one of my favorites. I have put through about 1000 rnds & never had a ftf or fte. the only prob. I ever had was the front sight broke. I have fired alot of +p rounds. I prefer steel to plastic, thats why I chose the mk. Also its very accurate & the trigger is very nice. I would highly recomend it.

I have a PM9 which I recently purchased. Very easy to carry and forget you have it on - so to speak.

Now, I'm not particularly recoil sensitive or shy - but the PM9 really does tend to jump and bark in your hand. Especially when using Gold Dots. I'm still trying to decide just how well I can learn to like it.

In the meantime I carry a Taurus Millenium Pro in .45. Now there's a pistol that didn't need any learning to like. Maybe not as small as the Kahr, but still very easy to carry - and with so much more horsepower.

Back to your question - if the weight's no issue, you'll likely prefer the MK9.

I have the MK9 which I LOVE. It is a fine carry piece and mine is always 100% reliable and very accurate for a small firearm.

You said you 'like the feel of the MK9 better' and you said 'the weight is not a problem' to you. You have made your decision and it is a very wise one indeed. Go forth, get the MK9 and never look back!

I can only help you on the MK9 - I have one and love it!! Shoots great and looks pretty good too! I shot the PM9 before and was fun to shoot but I just liked the feel of the MK! Good Luck

I have a PM9 which has over 300 rounds through it with no problems. I either pocket or IWB carry this pistol. It has become my primary carry piece.

+1 on the MK9. I have one and love it. I've handled, but never fired the PM9. The MK just felt better to me. If the weight is not an issue for you, go for it.

I'd probably go with the MK9. I had a P40 and had quite a few problems with it. Almost EVERY single mag I ran through it would result in a problem. Usually it was the slide not going all the way back in, so I'd have to tap it on the back to push it on in and continue firing. I really liked the look/weight of the polymer frame, but it did feel a little top-heavy too. I will say that when I carried that gun IWB I did forget I had it in. I even accidentally carried it a few places that I shouldn't have just because I wouldn't notice it when getting out of the car. I sold it instead of trying to send it off to Kahr and since they're so expensive (I paid $529) I'm scared to death to ever buy another Kahr for the same problems.
