i am looking for a very small semi auto... i had decided on a kel tec p3at becase i could put it in my pocket... but i just found the kahr mk9 and would like to know if this is a good gun. I like the idea of standardized ammo between it and my p95 but is it small enough to carry in my pocket? Is it smaller than a j frame?

I have a Glock 27 and wanted something a touch smaller and thinner. Found the MK9 and love it! I personally think its a touch heavy for pocket carry - but alot of people do it ( check out the Kahr section at www.glocktalk.com) great gun!

Look at the PM9. Same gun but with a plastic frame. Much, much lighter and still just as accurate and reliable. I have one and love it.

Recently I tried to buy a nice used MK9 to replace my J frame for pocket carry. (I was willing to deal with the weight only if I could get a "steal of a deal".) I think the MK9 is a good pistol that is small enough for pocket carry. I think it's too heavy for pocket carry. If you buy one, then from what I have learned, a good pocket holster is a must buy. If you can afford a Kahr PM9, then I think it's a better choice for pocket carry because it's about 11 ounces lighter.

Kahr PM 9 for pocket carry if you don't wear tight pants. Being slim, I prefer to carry mine on a belt as with the ammo, it tends to pull down on the pants. It's carried in a very high ride Rusty Sherrick holster that really conceals well. For inside the belt carry, I have a very thin plastic holster from Fist Holsters. Both options work for me over pocket carry.

Unwanted PM9

I have a nearly-new PM9. Check out the for sale section.

I have an MK9 and like it a lot. It is small, but heavy enough that it is easy to shoot. I too believe that the MK9 is too heavy for pocket carry, but it is easily hidden on the belt.

You might also consider that a Kel-Tec P-11 is considerably lighter, offers 10+1 9mm, is only .1" thicker, and costs less than half compared to the MK9. If you have the bling for a Kahr, the PM9 is lighter and therefore easier to carry.

Some may say unfavorable things about the P-11, but I know of a dozen of them that have over 1000 trouble-free rounds through them, some carried as BUGs by LEOs.

Personally, I would rather have two P-11's than one PM9.
