I'm about to pick up a 380 for carry at work...Need something easy to cc .After trying out a few different 380's,I've narrowed it down to these two..Shot em' both, like em' both...This will be my first, and hopefully only 380 purchase,so I'm trying to buy right...I don't mind spending a little extra to get something I'll be comfortable with that I won't want to trade a month after I get it..I'm going back to shoot them again one more time before I decide so,Any pros and cons or opinions welcomed, especially if you've owned or shot one or both...I appreciate the feedback...

I have had the 232 for about 4 years and several times thought about trading for the kAHR ( a frend has one ) but just can`t part with it. I carry it daily IWB very comfortable for me, mine has proven itself to be, bet your life on, reliable, over 800 rounds. I have shot 50 of the BUFFALO BORE lfn ammo (hot stuff) and it handles it well. I got use to the "heel" mag release but still wish it had a slide lock. (with the mag out, you can reach in the slide and lock it open but if the slide got away it is going to hurt)

Hope some of this helps

I'm not a big fan of the .380 when there are some many small 9mms out there, but I' familiar with both from inspecting them at the SHOT Show and shooting ones belonging to friends.

Knowing their history and design philosophy, I'd choose the Kahr P380. It is smaller, lighter, at least as accurate as the Sig 232. It's DAO trigger puts the Sig trigger to shame.

Do you want a DAO or Single Action to carry "cocked & locked"?

If that reference was to the Sig 232, the 232 doesn't offer C&L carry. It is a DA/SA gun. You might be thinking about the Sig 238...which I would even include in this choice

I own 7 SIGs including a P232 two tone, and 0 Kahrs, guess how I vote. Zero problems, holster carries very easily, DA trigger is heavy but the SA trigger is smooth, crisp and light for a SIG. I have both the P232 and a P238, the P232 is a lot more accurate pistol, but the design has more felt recoil than the tilting barrel action of the P238. No comment on the Kahr, but I doubt I will ever own one.

If you plan on carrying on your belt, then get the Sig P232. It's a classic.

If you want to pocket carry, then buy the Kahr, it is much smaller than the Sig.

If you get the Sig for concealed carry make good and sure you get a very good holster for it less you find one afternoon while putting the gun away it has some how come off safety and you have been tooling around most of that day with a light single action trigger pistol pointed down at your manhood or your posterior.
For concealed carry I would get the Kahr with a good hoslster that covers the trigger.

Edit to add...My bad..I got the 232 confused with the 238.

I would like to add to okc that the employer's policy manual/rules should be checked as far as carrying firearms at work. Most work places do not allow weapons on their premises.
This is the second time I have seen this mentioned.

I saw another post relating to bringing a weapon to work and my concern about this is multiple. Being familiar with the employer's rules will show if the employer is or is not agreeable for CPL holders to carry at work. I would venture that most employers are not.

Work place violence episodes does not justify being armed at work only because a CPL holder is 1-not police and 2-if a situation does occur anyone brandishing a weapon in self defense could be themselves shot by the police.

So I am concerned about a cavalier approach to having firearms in the work place. If the employer states it's ok in writting in the rules, then that's a different story. But I suspect that most employers , probably 99.9% rule against firearms in the work place.

My P380 has functioned 100%, even during the "break-in period". The trigger is a marvel, and the pistol's much more accurate than it has any right to be. I've got a couple of other .380 Auto pistols (a Bersa 95, Beretta 84, and Beretta 86), and the Kahr is the last one I'd sell.
I tried a Kel-Tec P3AT, but found it to be uncomfortable/painful to shoot. YMMV.

Good point and I appreciate the concern...My boss carries, his wife carries, and two others there carry as well...Small shop, everyone knows each other very well...We're located in a 'questionable' area.. They encourage it...

IMO it's hard to beat the Kahr. I don't like the though of carrying around a pistol cocked and locked in my pocket :what: or if I have to use it, having to remember to cock it on the draw.

The Kahr is point and squeeze, you don't have to worry about the safety getting switch off and shooting yourself and it's always in "Condition One" when you pull the trigger.

I am a little bias though seeing I daily carry a Kahr TP-9 inside the beltline.

For reliability and accuracy the P232 IMO beats the Kahr hands down.

That said: The P232 utilizes a blowback design and the felt recoil is much, much harder than one would expect from such a small cartridge. It took me a couple of hours of shooting to get used to the gun enough that I could accurately shoot it but once that hurdle was overcome - well - the P232 is a keeper.

The P232 is not suitable for pocket carry, way too big, but in a good IWB holster it is absolutely invisible and so light one would - I have - forget they're even carrying it.

And it's a SIG! One can have a cadillac or one can have a chevy.

I have a 230 Stainless and a 232 2 tone. If these are not the finest pistols out there...they tie for first.

I'd have to take the 232. I have shot both and while the Kahr P380 is very nice...the P232 was freakish in terms of how accurately I could shoot it. It is one of the nicest shooting pistols I have ever shot.
