Looks like I have to be there for 4 or 5 days later this month.

Whats the weather typically like in the end of August? Anything to do for entertainment there at night? Any thing in season that time of year? Any good ranges?
packing.org seems to be down. Anyone know the lowdown on the carry situation there? Will they honor my Virginia or my NH CCW??

Not sure on your ccw....missouri has it....kansas just passed it but not in effect until January. Check back with pack.org.

Now to the good stuff. The plazza and westport provide plenty of shopping, restraunts, and bars. Cabelas is a must stop. Zonarosa (sp?) is a new shopping area up north.

The weather will be hot. Expect highs in the 90's...Humidity is not much better.

I shoot at the bullet hole. Membership is cheap. I think on the order of 10 bucks...not 100% on that. Nothing in season this time of year...could go fishing though.

Stay away form these areas...prospect, paseo, the east side of kcmo is a no no. Quinderio on the kansas side.

Plenty of other info. Feel free to drop me a pm and I can help more.

Parma woods is a good public range north of Kansas city and is not that far from Cabelas (which you have to go to) probably run you about six bucks to shoot for the day.

The plaza is nice for your more up scale stuff. For good BBQ there is Gates and Jack Stack. Hereford house downtown, serves up good steaks, and Boulevard Brewery on S.W. Blvd has awesome beer. Stop by and get some free samples:D

KC IN August

There is nothing "Normal" or "Regular" about the last few days in August. It can be hot as Hades and nice as Spring from year to year. This year we have hit 100 for the first time in three years and it has been hitting it regularly. With a pretty high humidity the "Heat Index" has been well over 100 for most of July.
I know there are people that will tell you that there are parts of KC to stay out of. Anyone who lives there will tell you that most of the town is OK and the BBQ is the best.

Missouri CCW law appears to honor all current OOS permits. Open carry is allowed (including KS) BUT local gov't can ban and many do. Missouri restricted places only require the permitee to leave (if asked) or a ticket/fine can be issued. Watch the state line between MO/KS!

Late August will likely be 90's. We've had a bunch of 96-106 days so far so expect heat and humidity.

The Royals (not much to brag about) may be at home and the Chiefs could be having a preseason game. There is the Kansas Speedway, Cabelas, the Nelson Art Gallery, the Plaza, Zona Rosa, Science City and Union Station, Liberty Memorial for WWII, Westport saloons, Negro BB League museum, Jazz museum at 18th and Vine, the Zoo, the River Market, the dog track, several casinos, and World's of Fun. There are museums for the Pony Express (St. Joe at 45 miles north) and Jesse James (Kearney at 20 miles NW). And don't forget B-B-Q and steak!

Cabelas, the Speedway, and the dog track are in Kansas (the metro KC area is on the KS/MO line) and they do NOT honor ANY CCW license and won't until January 1, 2007 so again, be aware of the state line.
