I've got a new 1911 with a new Kart NM barrel. After about 60 rounds of .452 cast lead SWC the chamber gets dirty and won't let the bullet and slide go fully into battery. Is this normal? What can be done to fix it?
If it's a hard fit barrel, you may need to have it reamed. I am having the same problem with my home-built 1911/.40, using a Kart GS fit.
However, I did install a Kart GS fit to my Norinco .45 and have never had any problems. If your barrel hood required good bit of cutting to acheive proper lock up, the chamber depth may be on the minimum side.
What does your headspace look like with the barrel removed and the ammo your using in the chamber?
