Anybody been here before, any details, is it worth my trip up there to topeka from ft.riley? What is neccessary to go there and shoot? Do i need to be a member or anything? What about prices. any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I am a member at http://www.capitalcitygunclub.com/ in Topeka and I think it's a pretty nice facility. We have automatic trap and skeet towers, a 300yrd high power range, black powder range, and three pistol ranges. My only complaint would be about the wasps that go crazy when your shooting(got stung last week:mad: ). Then again I'm probably just being a wimp:eek: .

I go to the KV Shooting Range often. Nice people. Sells guns, ammo. If I remember correctly six lanes. Well ventilated. Last time my son and I visited it cost us $30 (total for both of us). That may have included one box of 45's., can't remember. Might call ahead, may be closed one or two days. If you need to buy a handgun I don't think his prices can be beaten.

Thanks for the info, much needed and much appreciated!
Hey Will Learn,
is there any pistol ranges that are indoor at capital city? thanks!

I was going to the range here on post, but they took out the 15yd target and the closest they have is 25meters. that is ok but i like to practice closer engagements, with handgun. So i am thinking about from now on taking the rifles to the range on post which goes to 300 meters, and take the pistols every couple week or so up to Kaw valley.

I'm a member of both Capital City Gun Club and also Kaw Valley Gun Club.

Capital City Gun Club is member owned and their Ranges are all outdoors.

Kaw Valley Gun Club is privately owned, is indoors, climate controlled and well ventillated. I believe Kaw Valley has 7 shooting stations. Target holders are on electric operated carriers which may be set at any distance from a few feet out to 25 yards.

It is open to the public 6 days a week and closed on Mondays. They charge by the hour. An annual membership is reasonably priced and will pay for itself if you go more than a couple times a year. Hourly range fees are about half if you are a member and the owner offers members discounts on firearms and low FFL transfer fees.

The owner, Bill Dittman, told me they participate in the Glock Program and will rent Glocks for use on the range if you are interested.

They also are offering Kansas Concealed Carry Classes. I am an NRA Certified Instructor and a Kansas AG Certified CCH License Instructor and will be teaching a class for them on Sunday July 30. That class is full but they are offering additional class dates and they have additional instructors.

You can obtain additional information from Bill or Shane Dittman at the range via phone at (785)233-1616.

Okay thanks, I think that used to be Target Zone. Do you know the rates?

I just called and it is $14 an hour for non memebers, and $7 an hour for memebers, membership is $30 a year and that covers your spouse as well!
