Yes, it is true.

I have been looking for ages for an Autoloading pistol that I could shoot somewhat accurately and I have finally found one. A Sig P228. I rented one at the range a few days ago and 100 rounds of ammo. The gun was beat up (as most range rentals are) but it functioned 100%. I went home and thought about it for a few days, went back to the range and rented her again. Same thing, wonderful groups, perfect ergonomics, perfect site picture. I tried a sig P239 a few years back and hated it because my fingers slipped off of the bottom and I steared clear of sigs for some reason. Well no more!

I am going to order a P228 as soon as possible. I have found them for $555 NIB on OnPoint, is this the best price out there?

You are always going to have people tell you that they got theres for $3.50 blah blah but $550 is about normal for a NIB P228.

It is worth every penny. Simply one of the finest handguns ever made.

Enjoy it. Welcome to the SIG club.

Chris.

My echo of what others have said. The SIG P228
is one of the most perfectly balanced pistols in the world.
Known by its military designation M11, its in world-wide
use even as we speak. :D Congrat's on you decision to
purchase a SIG P228. Hope you enjoy yours, as much as
I do mine! ;)

Best Wishes,

Yep, $550 is a fair price, I paid $556 for mine 6 years ago. You might find some nice 'previously owned' at CDNN or KY Imports for a bit less, but by the time you pay shippping, ins., and xfer fees, you back in the same neighborhood

As you noted, the ergo's are about perfect (even out of the box, all you might really need are night sights), they're eminenetly reliable, and more accurate than you are (er, that is , uh, they make you lok good;) ). Sigs are seductive, they tend to become the benchmark for quality handguns, and make you a bunch more discriminating going forward . . . (there's a reason the Germans have a reputation for execellent weapons design, engineering, and mfg -):D

The P-228 is far and away my favorite SIG. Yeah, the rolled slide may be flimsier than the milled slide, but the P-228 balances in my hand far better than the P-229; much better than the couple of ounces difference in weight would suggest.

Ahhh new love. :)

The 228 is one of SIG's best. Besides the 225, which fits my hand a bit better, it is my favorite Sig. That's a good price, On Point is well known over at the Sigforum.

I recently fell in love with a 239. Took a walk on the beach and everything...then i shot her....oooooh baby.

The rolled slide is flimsier? Maybe not? Some Swiss cops had new P229s slides crack, and at least one broke in two and the rear half hit the shooter; never heard of the older 220/225/226/228s doing that. ;)

Replace the roll pins in the slide every 5,000 rounds and they will last a lot longer than if you do not.
