I was considering selling my S&W 340 scandium 357 J-Frame and buy a Glock 26. After a lot of thought I decided not to and buy a better holster. I am not as good with my revolver as I am with a semi-auto and so I got caught up thinking my answer was a different pistol. The first rule I remember is to have a gun and most of the time living here in FLorida I look for the most lightest thinnest concealable firearm I have. I think the J-Frame fits the bill nicely. So instead of taking a hit on a very nice revolver I decided to keep it, get a trigger job and a practice more.

Glad I didn't sell it......yet:scrutiny:

Forgot my question.

Has anyone left their CCW revolver for an auto then realized they missed or enjoy a revolver more and then returned to carrying a revolver again?
:what:

To answer your question, yes and no.

I bought a S&W 642 for CCW while waited for my CHP to be approved, I also bought a G19 for HD and maybe winter carry. After carrying both I realized that it was not much harder to carry the G19, so it became my go to carry handgun and the 642 my BUG/deep carry gun.

I'm looking for another J-frame though, since in some situations it's easier to carry two smaller guns than one bigger handgun and I love my J-frame more!

Highly recommend "The snubbie revolver" by Ed Lovette, it really has a bunch of good info.

I tried a lot of guns over the years. I always come back to the Snub Revolvers. I carry two every day. That's all I have been shooting for a year or Two now.

I've carried a 442 for years.

In January this year I bought an XDs .45 to replace it thinking it was the bee's knees. But, the thing is akward to conceal due to the shape, has failed to return to battery several times within 500 rounds, is hard to gain a positive grip on while drawing from concealment, will jam if fired from a pocket/if the barrel is against the target, and the barrel's size kills most of the velocity from an already slow round making JHP ammunition less likely to expand reliably.

I carry the 442 as a back up gun at work and the XDs for real world applications just could not hold its own in comparison to the 442 and my personal needs.

I qualified with the 442 and my 3" 65 again this year.

I sold mine and replaced it with a Kahr P9 . The Kahr is almost as light , is slimmer , holds more rounds , and I shoot it better . I can shoot the Kahr all day , but after a few cylinders I was ready to put the 340 up .

I still have my 642 for pocket carry when I am to lazy to put on a holster .
