Hello all, I have a sig with a literally polished slide, the finish was trash when I got it, so I polished it until its almost a mirror finish. I was wondering if there's a coating or wax of some type to put on it that will keep it that way with less often maintainance? Any suggestions

duracoat makes a clear coat that might work for you. I have used clear engine enamel with some success.

A SIG slide, after you polished the finish off, would best be sent back to SIG for factory refinishing.

The Bling Factor on a SIG if nothing else, not to mention rust-proofing with a surface that will not hold oil or anything else, just ain't right!!

RC, I have to disagree. Not trying to start a fight or anything but it's his gun. If he wants bling that's up to him.

A good past wax, applied after every use should keep the rust away. Works here anyway. Of course the humidity is only 8% right now.

The finish was nearly gone when I got it, it's a 70's era P6, it really does look fantastic, I have another p6 that serves as a carry piece, the fancy one is mostly a nice occasion piece that I can still count on. I'll try to post a pic

Is it stainless?...You really don't need to do anything much to polished stainless. I have a bright polished Colt I bought 22 years ago. It still shines like it did they day I bought it

If I had ones that needed brightened up, I would use Mothers ansi a microfiber towel..

No it's not stainless I don't believe, it had a very thin almost non existent blue on it when I got it. I'll try to get pics up today

Thanks friend, I'm not usually into too much show on a gun, but it performs as good as it looks, so I just can't help it

If you want to keep it that way & skip the wax consider having a satin nickel plating job - or bright nickel. There's something about a S&W M27/29/whichever and a bright nickel finish that is beyond bling... but I digress... ;)
