    I just got a KT P-11 and when I load up the magazine(full) I get a rattle.
When loaded about half full- no rattle.
I just checked out the KTOG site and found a link fixing mag rattles.
Has anyone had any first hand problems with this?

Hi there, I was just wondering if it also rattles when fully loaded and inserted into the gun.

    I hate rattlemags! :(

Can you point the link out to me? I hope is doesn't involve "sqeezing" the mag with a plyers or some hokey fix like that.

    Hey WonderNine,

Yes the magazine does rattle when in the gun and yes the fix
does involve squeezing the mag with pliers.
I also noticed that the magazine fits snuggly in the well and won't
'pop' out after depressing the mag release.
I've only had this gun for a couple of weeks so I haven't shot it yet.

One of my two P11 mags rattles, even if only half full, while the other doesn't. Let's call Kel-Tec and ask them why.

2 of the factory original Mec-Gar mags I've had in my P-11 rattle when you get the 9th and 10th rounds in the pistol. If I wasn't anal about the rattle, I could just leave it well enough alone, as you can't hear it when in the pistol and concealed.

I normally load the magazine with one, chamber that one...drop the mag and fill with the next 10. When finished, turn the mag so that the rounds are facing up and lightly tap the back of the mag against your other palm. The rattles usually go away with one or two taps.

As I recall, there was another fix on the KT mags you could try, although I don't remember if it was for the rattle prob. Someone basically came up with a piece of wire that would hook into the mag, going the length from top to bottom...this would properly space the rounds. Please forgive me if I've confused this fix with another problem.

Alternately, you can try the S&W mags that fit the P-11, although I forget which model number they are.

the wire thing is the Flyer Wire, but it is for the P-32 to prevent rim lock:

as far as I know nothing has come up better than the squeeze the mag fix for this.

oh and one little point, KT is not the designer of these mags, this design has been rattling for some time in MANY S&W guns... Every S&W mag I have for my P-11 (same mag fits) rattles when full and inserted into the gun. KT just copied S&W's mag design for interchangeability.

one of these days I may sacrifice a mag, cut it up, and look inside while it is loaded, and see if I can find a better fix for the mag rattles.

and here is some mag info regarding the P-11:

and how I carry mine with 12 rounders:
