Kel-Tec P-3AT and dry firing

For owners of the new Kel-Tec .380 P-3AT, I have a question. My Kel-Tec P-32 manual says that you should never dry fire the P-32. No problem I guess since it does have a slide lock after teh last round is fired. However, with the .380 version there is no slide lock and unless you count your rounds fired, you may wind up dry firing it after the last shot has been fired. Now does the P-3AT have the same "do not dry fire" warning that the .32 version has? If it does, how do you deal with the possibility of dropping the hammer on an empty chamber after your last round has been fired? Does this cause any damage or is this just a CYA statement from Kel-Tec?

Yes, my new P-3AT owner's manual says on pg. 13: "Do not dry fire your P-3AT. As with any gun, dry firing should be avoided."

I question if it would really hurt anything to dry fire the little pistol, but I have reluctantly accepted their advice to avoid dry fire -- since they made the pistol and all -- but I have chosen to ignore their blanket statement about avoiding dry fire with "all guns".

I've done it once or twice after the last round. I don't think an occasional dry fire will cause any damage. I think it's just doing it a lot could eventually cause a problem.

Do they make snap caps in .380 or .32acp?

Yes - get A-Zoom snap caps. They are the best and last a long time. More expensive but worth it. Don't waste your money on the cheap ones - they are usually blue or orange/red and have a spring in them and a brass "primer".

yes get the good ones... that thing in the top left with the spring hanging out of it, is a cheap one....
