Well, I picked up a Kel-tec P11 a couple of weeks ago and went to the range tonight to put some rounds through it. I cleaned and lubed it earlier to get it ready for the trip. I bought some of the new Winchester SXZ9 ammo that has training rounds designed to feed like the JHPs of the same variety (SXZ9 Personal Protection) but are less expensive than the JHPs. I ran 100 rounds through it and 7 out of 10 mags failed to feed the first round when I released the slide to chamber a round. There was also a 2 or 3 times when a follow-up round failed to fully feed.
I am guessing that it is probably the ammo. Has anyone else used this ammo yet? And, if so, how did it work for you? I am going to try some FMJ in it next time to see if I'm correct.
And, if you own a P11, how many rounds did you run through it before you felt it was reliable enough to carry? I don't mind putting more rounds through it at all but I'm just curious about your experience. Heck, I talked to a guy at the range tonight that said he helped put 800 rounds through a Kahr CW45 to get it reliable.
And, please, don't make this a Kel-tec bashing thread as I am an equal opportunity shooter.
