kel-tec su-16

That might be a good price in California, I don't know.

In Texas it would not be. E.g. Budsgunshop.com has a SU-16 in stock right now (new) for $444. I think after DROS and transfer fees you would still be ahead buying new.

MAJOR Factor: Kel Tec warranty is lifetime for original owner only. I won't buy used KT guns for that reason. YMMV.

As for the gun itself. Many people consider them cheaply made and flimsy gimmicks. Some people like them. The difference is mainly in the outlook of the owner, not the gun. I suggest you do your research and decide whether you are a "kel tec person" or not. No shame either way, but buying a Kel Tec if you aren't a Kel Tec type person is a one way ticket to disappointment land.

If it fits your needs, it's worth it. Keltec puts out limited runs on its weapons, so they're always desirable. Brand new those sell for a bit more than $500 in most places.

It's light, reliable, and easy to handle. I owned one for while and it was easy for my wife to handle. It never had a malfunction, though I only put a hundred or so rounds through it before I sold it to my brother.

I guess the knock to them would be that they are not built like tanks, and they don't come with the pistol grip. If you do the research they have a reputation for running rounds like champs.

If it suits your needs, it's worth it.

I've got a 16A
Good rifle for it's intended use, "Sport Utility"
(If you are planning on using it to club commies, or join a mercenary force, it might be a little light duty.)
I like it because it's light, unique, fun and versatile:D

I have had a C and an A for a number of years. I sold the A during the panic for an obscene amount of money but still shoot the C on a regular basis. Even used it in a 3 gun event once.

If you are going to be a super ninja and drag it through the mud, club bad guys and use it to batter down doors it's probably not for you. On the other hand if you want a lightweight .223 that uses AR mag's, shoots reasonably accurately and makes a good walking varmint rifle this might be a good gun.

The price seems high to me but I'm in Texas.

16

I have the model that has a pistol grip at all times.

and can be carried with a 20 or 10 round mag in the well and stock folded, then unfolded w/o removing mag.

I have fired it many times and cleaned it after all range sessions,I do note that it is a LIGHTWEIGHT and would not expect it to withstand near as many rounds as a normal AR / M-4.

But for light duty AND ease of travel [ fits in my Harley hard bags ] its perfect.
