-Does anyone have exp with the kel-tec SU16 series?
-Is it at all accurate i.e. about what MOA at 100 or 200 yrds?
-Do they load well or are the subject to ftf, ftl?
-I'm in Calif. with lots of restrictions and don't know of other semi autos I can
get here. This would be an all hell breaks lose defend the perimeter fire arm. In other words 99.9% chance of only at the range for targets. I have a nice Savage bolt varmint thats very accurate , but like the idea of a semi auto at home in the safe.

I've got a "C" and a "A" model, only had the "C" for about 2 months and haven't shot it all that much but it looks like it will be slightly more accurate overall than the "A". My "A" has had many hundreds of rounds thoorgh it with no problems or failures to feed, eject etc., although not as well used the "C" has also had no failures. The "A" has a 1.5-4.5 scope mounted on it, and the "C" has a 3-9 only because I had a spare laying around (pic is pre-scope).

Mine are generally 2.5-3.5" guns at 100 yards, although the "A" shows a marked preference for Black Hills reloaded 52 gr. HP moly coated, and regularly shoots 1.25-1.5" groups with it. The "C" is just a little better overall, and so far I have not tried the moly loads in it.

My SU-16CA wearing russian 6x42. With winchester black box, on a good day it does this.

100% reliable, been a -great- rifle. I was gonna originally get it for just a truck gun, but have decided I dont want an AR anymore. Its light, handy, pointable and reliable.

The SU16 seems like a good choice, but there ARE many other CA-lega semi-autos, such as the SKS, Mini 14/30, M1A, M1 carbine, and many more. Do a search on terms like: CA, semi-auto, assault rifle etc. in the rifle forum.

good info. I'll continue research, and try some out. Any more comments out there? Nice target, how many yards was that?

I too was considering getting an SU-16. I was wondering how they compare to the Saiga 5.56?

I love my Saiga .223 - it is very accurate for an AK. But, it is little heavier than an SU16, and it is a bit of a pain to get a nice receiver-mounted peep sight like the SU 16 has. I am a stickler for the peep sight, and the AK does not readily lend itself to a peep sight with the removeable receiver cover. The other downside is the expense of high-capacity magazines. The upside is having an incredibly durable, and pretty accurate true Russian .223 for $250.

The more I read about these little gems, the more I'm starting to like them.
I haven't shot one myself and I don't own one, but it looks like I may have to take a look at getting on them.

I have two saigas, and a Kel tec slr 223 pistol. the 223 pistol is the same receiver/bbl as the su16. it is actually quite remarkable in it's engineering, and i have fired about 600 rounds through it, using diff mags, synth, steel, aluminum , etc. all have worked just fine, and the inside of my receiver still looks brand new, I have not even wiped it out yet, much less stripped and cleaned. Remarkable. The Saiga is fantastic, it is pure AK, but the kel tec is about 1/2 the weight.
