I was at the gun store today and saw a sub 2000. Handling it it did not seem bad for the price, and I never owned a kel tec firearm. I was just wondering from the folks on here who know something about this sub2000 rifle if they could share there own experiences or opinions. The reason I would get this rifle would be for shooting at the range and minor hunting when its raining out.

I've heard pretty much nothing but good things about them, but never fired one personally. One nice thing about them is that depending on which one you have they take glock or (i think) 92fs mags.

I have one in the Glock M17 flavor. It's a reliable and fun shooter.
You can do a lot of plinking with those 30 round Glock M18 magazines.

They're lightweight, use common pistol mags, very easy to store with how they fold up. Chances are you're going to want to get the stock extension from Kel-Tec, since the LOP is VERY short out of box.

There's no easy way to mount optics on the carbine, which is a bit of a drawback to some (including myself), but the iron sights are easy to see, darned simple to use, and mine were dead on right out of the box, all the way out to 100 yards (a little kentucky windage was necessary, but they weren't hard shots by any means).

Now, you can't use aluminum cased ammunition (or at least REALLY REALLY shouldn't. It was even on the Kel Tec website, and I believe it's in the manual), but other than that, it's been very reliable, with a few very specific exceptions in my experience.

It jammed pretty consistently when using a 33rd Glock magazine loaded with PMC 115gr FMJs. I think that was more a case of the magazine not liking the ammo, more than it was the gun not liking the ammo, as that combination of magazine and ammo jammed in my Glock 17L as well. The 17 rounders worked fine, and the 33 rounders have yet to jam with Georgia Arms 124gr FMJ.

All in all, it's one of my favorite weapons, and I consider it more than just a range toy. In fact, if my HD shotgun were ever in the shop for repairs, I'd grab the Sub-2000 and park it next to my nightstand without hesitation. Loaded with 147gr GDHPs of course.

Have 2 of them and love them both. One is the Glock 19 grip and the other is the Glock 17 grip. Both have never failed to function even with some Brown Bear steel case :uhoh: I know its a no no but they work, in mine. Never had a problem with genuine Glock 33 rounders, never tried the after-market jobs, and like has been stated they're not much for optics just simple open sights but they work out to 100 yds even for tired 53 yr old eyes. Can hit minute of soda can at that distance about 6 outa 10 times. When traveling I fold one up and put it in a laptop computer case with 6-33 round mags, loaded with 30rounds each, and carry it into motels and have never even been looked at strange. IMHO they're a great bedside companion to the 870.

Mine is my companion every time I travel. I have the G22/.40S&W flavor and it has been flawless it ~ 1000 rounds. I load it with double taps 155gr gold dots. They chrono out at ~1475fps/750lbs of energy.

I want a 9mm for my trunk. would be carrying a g-26 with 10 rounder, 2 spare 17 round mags, and one of these that takes the same mags in the trunk, seem like a good combo to me.

I just sold my G17 version. I ran it 100% without failure through many Glock 10 round, 16 round (?), and 33 round magazines. I have used plenty of brass WWB and steel-case Wolf. It always works and it's quite accurate with the irons ("plastics") our to 50-75 yards at least. Beyond that, the sights are a little rough for precision sighting.

You definitely want the K.T. stock extension and you also need a sling which I believe you can only buy from K.T.

I sold mine because it was more of a toy than a practical weapon. Besides the Glock magazine compatibility, I didn't have a whole lot of use for it. It definitely works better than it looks/feels as the plastic feels pretty cheap.

I really like my Sub-2000 in 9MM. I have no plans to sell or trade it. It is accurate, dependable, easy to hit with, fun to shoot, and it folds into a neat little package.
