i just saw the add in guns and ammo. is this new? its a pretty wierd gun that i would never buy.

Kel-Tec pistols have been around for some time. They are loved by some and not so loved by others but I never considered my Kel-Tec wierd . I have their P3AT model in .380

Why wouldn't you buy one ? and what part is wierd to you ?

I own two...

A blued P3-AT and a P11 in hard chrome. Long hard trigger pull and not easy to shoot well, but mine have been utterly reliable and easily concealable.

torpid,

What do you consider to be wierd about the Kel-Tec's and why would not buy one.

They are well made, here in America, easily concealable and go bang every time.......at least that is true for my P-11 in 9mm and my wifes .380. Please don't knock them before you try them. At least shoot one!!!!

I think he must be refering to the .223 'small rifle' from Kel Tec. Kel Tec is not my cup of tea, but the P series do look 'normal', and a lot of people do like them.

thinking of a KT myself

I have carried many a pistol over the last few years and I am actually thinking of getting a kel-tec P-3AT so that I can actually carry when I am in my work clothes (biz casual) and other times when I need a deep concealed pistol. Looked at the p11 but that seems to push the limit for something to stuff in my small pockets.

They may not be in the same league as some higher priced guns, however, the fact that they are American made does make me think they would be worth having.

I was quoting colt.45's post.
(the devil is in the details...)
;)

He's go to be refering to the 5.56 pistol. Not my cup of tea though I am a proud KT P32 owner. I do like the rifle versions of this "pistol" and have read great things about them.

OK . . . so it’s a bit bigger than most of their pocket pistols . . . but haven’t you noticed that more and more people are wearing cargo pants with big pockets :)

im talking about the plr-16. it os chambered in 5.56 and it uses ar-15 mags:eek: its pretty much their rifle with evertyhing shortened

Not only are the little (32 and 380) Kel Tec handguns just about the smallest things out there for their power (the only thing I have that's smaller is a Baby Browning, and you can only get ONE finger on that grip), they are probably the best value in a quality firearm. The P11 (10+1 9mm) is quite chunky and not much of a pants pocket pistol, but the little ones will disappear even in the pocket of my fairly tight jeans. The P3AT is my carry gun of choice when I can't cover a Makarov on the belt with a sweater or jacket.

Add to that customer service that is unbeatable. I will confess to letting a 380 case slip through my 9mm Luger reloading process. :uhoh: A full power 9mm powder charge behind a 115g bullet makes for a VERY unpleasant 380 shooting experience in an 8 ounce plastic framed gun. I will never foreget the feeling, and couldn't get the feeling out of my hand for a couple of days, but the gun held together, with only one part that disappeared and a couple others that were blown out. The plastic grip frame cracked around the aluminum receiver edges. Kel Tec replaced all the missing and damaged parts at NO CHARGE, even though I admitted to them up fromt that this was my fault. Cost me one-way overnight shipping. It don't get no better than that.

My P11 pocket-carries better than my S&W J-frame. I have quit wearing jeans, though, to allow a little looser pocket.

Perhaps Han would like it?

The new Kel-Tec .223 pistol looks like what I think of when I hear the word "blaster." It'd look right at home hanging from Han Solo's hip. :D

The P-32 / P3AT / P-11 are proven designs with plenty of fans. They're not for everyone, but that's part of the fun of the shooting sports!

Then you would miss out on a gun that's interesting and a lot of fun to shoot.:)

The only thing that keeps me from using it right now as a primary house and car gun is the ear shattering blast. As soon as I find a flash hider/muzzle brake that will help from wrecking ear drums, in a defense shooting, I plan on buying another PLR to leave in the car.
It's small enough to use as a (large) pistol and accurate enough to use as a rifle.

Set up for 95 yard plinking. The worse group it shoots is with Wolf, over 7 inches. The best has been with my reloads and Black Hills, about 1+ to 2+ inches.

M2, that is absolute madness. Now I want one.

You might could check out these guys' blast-directors/"flash hiders", designed to point the earth-shattering kaboom coming out of shorty rifles forward and away from the shooter: http://noveskerifleworks.com/

In the meantime, I propose that we henceforth refer to the PLR-16 as the Q16 Illudium Explosive Ear Modulator.

It's not something I'd want, but I don't see anything "weird" about it. Apparently there is a market for them.

I told a Kel Tec rep I wish I had stock in that gun. They will sell like crazy.:D

I've had a Bushmaster .223 pistol and AK pistol for a while.
So far the Kel Tec is more powerful (longer barrel), smaller and more accurate than the Bushmaster, at about half the price.
The AK pistol was also about half the price of the Bushmaster but it's in a different class. A big powerful cannon.
But fun to shoot and also surprisingly accurate at 95 yards.:)

This is a "video capture", as is the Kel Tec picture so they are small and not too clear. This AK flame is actually still building but the way the video records it doesn't always record the whole flame and sometimes no flame at all.
It's interesting anyhow.

Kel Tec is a privately held corporation. I want a piece of the IPO when/if they go public.

Darn you, M-2! :)

M2: Cool photos. You've outdone yourself! I also think this pistol's going to catch on, especially at its price.

I don't need one...but now I want one!

I blame you, M-2!

My Wife always told me I was a bad influence.:)

If Kel-Tec were so good, they would be authorized by most agencies as a back up. I have had one, P-32; felt safer with my knife.

Oh great Kel-Tec has decided to go the way of Olympic Arms and piss the BATFE and the gun grabbers off again!
Smooth move Kel-Tec, go for the money, lose your common sense!
Here comes another 'assault rifle' ban,,,,,,,

Another useless gun that I am going to have to buy. What is a good price to pay for one?
