Tallahassee Florida... I was in there yesterday and ......Still have over 15 AR type rifles in stock everyday!! I saw a DPMS panther 16 for Under $800 Whats the BFD in the rest of the country??? There is no reason for you to pay the price you are paying when the price has stayed the same. Standard Bushmaster 20 A2 is still about a thousand. Ammo is up, but it is always high at that store, but there is plenty. DONT PAY BECAUSE YOU ARE AFRAID...! there are better deals out there if you open your eyes and close your checkbook!!

Same thing at Tex Guns here in Austin. At least 7-8 ARs always in and many under 1000.

I sold a lower to a guy at a gun show for way more than I paid for it. My reason was id quote A really high price so he wouldn't buy it. I was right 30 seconds later the guy behind him did. He could have ordered it online and paid transfer fees for about a hundred less. Or walked around for a few more minutes and got it for $50 cheaper. People are panicking.

Ever heard the phrase, "the plural of anecdote is not data"?
We're all happy for you, but that doesn't change the fact that most sellers, in most areas, are still holding to the prevailing pricing on EBRs.

"the plural of anecdote is not data"

THAT might be a great signature line!

If you are patient and look around, you can find very good/reasonable deals out there.

Im not looking for affection Im telling everyone here to stop paying these crazy prices and start looking elsewhere for what you want. And if you don't want to take my advice then stop complaining about the price being so high. You paid the price. So in the dealers eyes that says that he is justified to charge that much. Mabye he can charge more. Don't panic! Those of you buying the romanian and yugo ak's for over $600 are the main reason of my gripe. You must have more money than brain capicity. Stop making the rest of us responsible buyers suffer!

Kevin's prices have always been high and they aren't well thought of by many in Tallahassee. Kevin is arrogant and greedy and only cares about serving the ignorant or wealthy, especially rich plantation owners. If you aren't up to his standards as a customer, you are scum and will be treated as such.

He has a lot of AR 15s because people here find better and cheaper places to buy them. Go here and read what people in Tallahassee think of Kevin's http://www.tallahasseegunforum.com. Sportsman's Warehouse is a better place to shop in Tallahassee and when they opened up a lot of Kevin's employees left to work there.

Having said that, I would have to agree with you about the panic buying. Only a fool would pay prices inflated 2 or 3 times because of a non existant gun ban and some dealers do their best to keep the panic going.

Yeah but...
Before the election, basic ARs were easy to find for $700 at gun shows here, now there's pretty much nothing below $900.

Well, when you posted (yesterday, 1/31/09), things are probably a LOT different than they were just 3-4 weeks ago, and a world of difference since November. The artificial bubble has now burst, and manufacturers and distributors have largely now caught up on demand, and we're on the rapidly-falling downside of the bursting bubble, in my belief. What was going on in that same store on Nov 3rd, 2008?

Ok smarty pants. I work in tallahassee and I go in kevins and sportsmans warehouse. You have not! There is not a single AR in stock as of Thursday. I immeadltly left and went to kevins and there were over 15 of them. Price was fair and they had them in stock. I used to live in tallahassee and I have been buying from them since the 80s. Yes I know that some of their stuff is overpriced but their new guns are not. They make the short list on numbers of guns sold and they did not get that way for being overpriced

I live in Tallahassee also and Kevin's is just a couple miles from my home. I haven't been in Sportsman's Warehouse in over a month but when I was there they did have AR15 rifles. The reason they don't now is because everyone prefers to buy them there instead of Kevin's. Talk to the guys in Sportsman's Warehouse and ask how many guns they are selling. They are selling a lot of guns and they didn't get that way by being over priced or arrogant towards their customers. There's also other places in Tallahassee that sell and specialize in AR15 rifles.

Like I said in my first post read the Tallahassee Gun Forum and see what people think of Kevin's. I thought they were arrogant and a rip off even before I ever heard of Tallahassee Gun Forum or Sportsman's Warehouse. If Kevin's has any good prices, its only because he now needs to compete with Sportsman's Warehouse.

Either way I could care less about Kevin's or Sportsman's Warehouse. I find better deals and selection in Gainesville, Ocala, and the Tampa/St. Petersburg area or the Internet.

I wish! There is a pretty good sized gun show in two weeks, I'll look for evidence of what you suggest. Sure didn't see it at the HGCA show a few weeks ago. Sales had slowed down to about the pre-election norm, but selection was poor and prices high.

As to being "caught up" I'm still waiting for AR kits ordered Nov 5th and Nov 10th.

Have you tired to find in stock 7.62x39 or .223 ammo recently? I'm not finding much in stock and certainly not seeing lower prices anywhere. I stocked up on guns and ammo before the election, but I shoot enough that I'm always looking for "deals" on ammo.
