I am going to go to some training classes that require me to bring along my kevlar vest. Despite popular belief kevlar is not the most resilient stuff in the world when it comes to bending, folding, and overall abuse such as being checked for airline travel, etc. Has anyone seen any sort of case that would be good for this type of application?

P.S. mods, feel free to move this post, I was not sure where the best place for it was.

A big roll on 2 wheels suitcase. You could put a piece of wood on the bottom, and another on top of the vest if necessary, and put all your clothes on top.

If anyone shoots at you, just hide behind the suitcase :neener:

i don't think it is a prohiobited item.

plus if one were to wear a suit how would anyone know you had it on?

err I dunno if any of you have actually worn a vest, but they are hot has hell, and not the most comfortable things in the world sitting down. My boss would probably get a laugh out of it thiough.

Okay, so it is winter time right now and planes tend to be kept on the cool side as being slightly cool helps offset motion sickness for many folks, so a vest would be a good thing.

As for the comfort issue, it just depends on the type of vest. Oversized tactical vests might not be comfortable, but a properly sized/fit concealment vest should.

Double Naught Spy, I'm not sure how radiation and convection and conduction work, if you can heat something hotter than your body temperature just by touching it, but when you reach inside a vest to feel your skin it's almost hot to the touch!

... but when you reach inside a vest to feel your skin it's almost hot to the touch!

It's 'cause the outside of your body is cooler than the inside (assuming your environment is cooler than your body temperature) and adding layers slows the loss of heat through the covered parts of your body, so the "outside" underneath, say, a bullet-resistant vest is much warmer than your hand, which isn't covered by anything, so it feels hot when you jab your cool hand underneath your vest against your core-temperature belly.

i wear one everyday. They really aren't that bad you forget they are they pretty quickly. At least till you get an itch right in the middle. My new vest, I would have no problem wearing on a plane. Now my old one that was made in 1995 that would be a little rough.

Black92lx, I was recently issued this one around 2 years ago its goldflex made in 2002 by US Armor its like 17.1 oz per sq ft, so its really not heavy for III-A. I guess I could wear it on the plane...but I would really rather not. I also sort of baby it because you cant get the goldflex anymore from US armor as the marines bought them all and US Armor has dedicated all of their supply to military use only.

Anyway, so it looks like wearing it or packing it in a suit bag may be the best bet...BTW, suit bag was a good idea...I cant believe I didnt think of that lol!
