I'm thinking of trading my Khar K9 in on a XD-9 because I want a higher capacity pistol. The Kahr has been an excellent pistol, but the limited 7 round capacity has always bothered me.
Any thoughts?

Any way you can keep the Kahr and buy the XD?

They're both great guns, but of a slightly different breed - the single stack Kahr is much easier to conceal and the XD is a wonder-nine. Both, from my experience, are reliable.

I have been using the KelTec P-3AT for conealed carry. Here in Arizona where we wear shorts and T shirts for a good part of the year, the 3/4 inch thick P-3AT is pretty tough to beat.

I used to carry the Kahr in a fanny pack, but nowadays everyone knows what's probably in a fanny pack.

The XD-9 would be a car and house gun.

I prefer the Kahr over the XD due to the concealability, but if its gonna be a house/car gun the added capacity of the XD would be a plus.

Personally, I'd keep the Kahr, but buy the XD anyway.

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, but I just cant think of another way to say it. I cant imagine why the Kahr's limited capacity bothers you, yet the Kel-Tec you carry holds one less of a weaker round. While the Kel-Tec is very concealable, the Kahr shouldn't be much, if any, harder to conceal in the same attire. It would also be a good idea to have another concealable firearm if the Kel-Tec breaks.

Go with the XD-9C...OR the CZ Rami polymer when it comes out...ANYTHING but the Kahr...Unless ya buy a holster from me for it, then all is well :neener:

Zach S, the kahr K9 is like a cannon next to the P-3AT! There is no way I could fit the Kahr K9 into my pocket.
Besides, the Kahr is much thicker, longer, taller and weighs three times what the P-3AT does.

The P-3AT is my always gun and the 9mm is for when I'm going into a bad area at a bad time.

Dave, if I get the XD-9I may take you up on the holster. The Kahr came with a holster.

Ahh, I forgot about pocket carry (D'oh!). Since I wear 30x32 jeans even a kel-tec in my front pocket is a pain for me (back pockets stay occupied).

If you have to sell that Kahr, you might consider replacing it with another one.

Like the P-9 or the PM-9.

The PM-9 is a pocket pistol if you have the pockets for it.

(Well, I will admit with the pockets you can get these days a pocket pistol can be fairly substantial. Like a small .45 auto or .357 mag revolver. )

Good lord........give me the Kahr, they fit in my pocket quite well and I love them.
The XD is another great choice.......but you have one of the best guns made.
You will realize it, I just hope its not a little too late ..........

Ill trade you leather work for it......:D :D :D

Shoot well.........

Don't let the 7-rd capacity keep you up at night. Plenty of us old-fashioned 1911 proponents believe 7 is more than enough.

Train with whatcha got, and make your rounds count. If you can't hit in 7, then 3 more ain't gonna save your bacon anyhow.

If you are happy with the Kel-Tech as a carry gun and are just wanting a house gun then I would go with the XD-9. I am a HUGE fan of the PM-9 as a carry gun though

Trade away...you won't regret it. The XD is a great platform.

(make it a 40 sub-compact...its the same size...why fool with the lower powered 9, when you can have a 40?)

Brickboy240, I can do a lot more practice with a 9mm because the ammo is much cheaper than 40cal ammo.

Zach S, I don't need a coat pocket gun because I don't need a coat here in Arizona. LOL!

Got the XD-9 tachtical today and kept the K-9. Really could not let the Kahr go.

I will shoot the XD-9 tomorrow and post the results.
