Kids, drugs, and guns

Saw a similar article this morning in The Miami Herald and heard about it on the radio when it happened.

A couple notes (at least from what I've heard on the news and read):

1. The kid who was killed stole the gun (and an illegal gun at that)
2. At a point prior, the kid who shot the other kid said something to the effect of, "I need to get rid of this soon because I'm probably going to do something stupid with it." - so he either knew he was a moron, or knew he couldn't be trusted with it.
3. The kid who got killed is a high-school drop-out who was already involved in burglaries.
4. All the kids at that party were smoking pot.

As far as I see it, dumb kids stole a gun, and one of them paid an enormously high price for his stupidity. I don't mean to be cruel, but it is Darwinian. Unfortunately, it's also a statistic for Brady.

I'm not one to wish death upon anybody, but at the same time I can't help but say, "He pushed his luck and paid the price." for both the shooter and the shot.

Migneco worked for the past four months as a busboy at Flavors of Italy restaurant in Coral Springs, said his co-worker and friend, David Riggs.

"He was one of the best employees here," Riggs said.

He said that Migneco called in to work Thursday to say he was too tired to work.

So, if he's one of the best but calls in with BS excuses to go smoke with his friends, what are the rest the staff like and who would want to eat there? Or maybe the reporter just needed some sympathetic quote from anyone who knew the kid to make the article complete.

High school drop outs, high on drugs, disobey all 4 rules of gun safety...yeah it must be the gun's fault
Sounds like a real group of winners.

There is just ONE thing that could have had a better outcome. The kid should have stolen a hand grenade and got all of them.

I doubt that grass played any role in it. If he had enough common sense to keep it pointed in a safe direction, and his finger of the trigger when he wasnt high he would have the same ability to stay safe while he was high.
