Here's a hog vitals chart that St. Gunner posted a while back. I just saved it and am reposting it here:

on anyting with 4 legs, usually the front half of the animal is a good place to start...

head, neck, front shoulder will do the trick... now i've never hunted elephant, i think all 3 at once would work best there...

All you have to do now is to have , when you hunt, a mental image of the vital organs and always shoot at a specific part of the deer , not just shoot at the deer. Also you have to get an idea of the position of the vitals from different directions .Some think of a soccer ball in the deer and aim at that.....this should take care of most animals -- www.pistoleros.no/sp/sp.htm also www.bowhunting.net

Kill area on a critter

There are 2 books you want, given the critters you named. Each has an outside view of each critter, showing where to aim, and an inside view showing where the major organs and bones are. The 2 books are: The Perfect Shot: North America and The Perfect Shot: Africa Each should be available by googling online, or from Midway or any of the big mailorder houses. Sorry, publisher and author escapes me @ the present.

I was curious about feral hogs; they are built so differently from deer-like animals, and sure enough, TPS:NA covered 'em. Animals with which I AM familiar, TPS:NA was right on the money in their coverage.
