This really burns me up, and I'm not some anti-hunting, anti-trapping, animal rights, tree hugger by any means. It seems 'someone' saw fit to shoot peoples dogs who were left at a school when they evacuated from low-lying St. Bernard parish for hurricane Katrina. CLick on the link for all the details.
The St. Bernard Sheriff's Office denies any involvement, what a shocker. These dogs were in a building, not roaming the streets attacking innocent people. Since they were in a building it would seem obvious to evan an ape with a badge that someone put them in there and in all likelyhood would be coming back to retrieve them.
Personnaly I was working offshore at the time and had to evacuate the boat to Sabine, TX. My wife, who was 6 months pregnant at the time, loaded up our three dogs(including a Rot. mix and a Pit mix) in the truck and evacuated them to TX. We would never have left our dogs to fend for themselves in a school or anywhere else for that matter. I am of the opinion that if you choose to own a dog(or any pet) that animal its well being becomes your responsibility, however if I chose to leave my animal in what I thought to be a safe location I would not expect those who are paid by my tax dolllars to kill it.
Ten dogs were found shot this week at the old parish courthouse in the community of St. Bernard The remaining four dogs were found at Sebastien Roy Middle School in eastern St. Bernard Parish
