Anyone have any experience with the relatively new Kimber 1911 models in 9mm. I'm looking at the Tactical Pro. Not many reviews on these guns. About an 8 month wait to oder one from Kimber. Also looked at the Springfield EMP. I have a Tactical Entry .45 that has been awesome and wanted to stay in the 1911 family and hopefully with Kimber. Any input appreciated?

Not about the Kimber but just about 9mm in the 1911 guns. I've shot the STI Trojan and Ranger II in 9 and they were a sweet gun to shoot. The shorter commander length felt particularly nicely balanced and with the lesser kick of the 9mm it was easy to do quick double taps and keep the grouping in the A zone of an IPSC target at around 10 yards.

I have a Tactical Pro in 9mm. Love that gun. Great shooter and has been problem free. Well, except when the front sight fell off. Otherwise it has been a great gun and lots of fun to shoot. I'd recommend it without hesitation.

I also have a 9mm EMP that I really like and is my secondary carry weapon. I must admit that I have a hard time warming up to the 3" barrel, but it is very accurate. It, too, has been a flawless performer.

Of the two, I like the Kimber better. Not sure exactly why - maybe the barrel length.

The 4 inch may provide a little more accuracy..... Wish I could get my hands on one..... Love the feel of the Tactical Entry. With the combat clip.

Kimber Target II

I have the Kimber Custom II Target -- Stainless Steel 9mm -- really like the gun -- great shooting and accurate.

Have had no trouble with it -- purchased used from a friend with holsters, extra mags, mag holder.

The only thing I wish is that the 22lr conversation for the Kimber 1911 would work -- but according to everything I read the Kimber conversation kit only works with 45 acp 1911.
