I'm thinking about getting a Kimber 84M in .308. Does anyone have experience with these?

Comments, good or bad?

Thanks,
Steve

I tried this query back on TFL but got little response. I, too, would like to know how these have worked out. My local shop has one and it looks really nice.

I do and you may not like what I have to say about them. They didn't like it on the TFL either but here goes.

We had two of them to try out. And the following things are wrong with them.
I found the action to be rougher than it should be down right grabby as a matter of fact.

Kimber really screwed the pooch with the safety on this rifle for two reasons one it doesn't lock down the bolt and two I found it to be grabby as well.

And here is the biggy. One of the rifles we had was givving soft primer hits and not firing reliably the other was slam firing on bolt closeure. Ooops. the bad part is that Kmber was totaly unresponsive to the problems and basically just tried to blow us off.

If they've got these basic safety problems fixed then I think overall it's a cool concept and a really neat looking little gun.

H&Hhunter,

Thanks for sharing your experience. I remember you writing the same thing on TFL, but few other corroborating or contrary responses.

thanks
Zak

Beautiful wood, great concept and awesome weight, but that is where the good comments seem to end. Metal to wood finish quality is terrible and the action and safety controls are not very satisfactorily done. There was a right up in one of the gun-zines last month too and the accuracy was not all that great either. Certainly not what you would expect from a $800 (street) rifle.

Its a shame because the rifle is feature packed for that price point and nothing on the market comes close.
