Kimber 84M and bases???????

I am buying a Kimber 84M in 7-08 amd the gentleman has the factory bases available but I have heard that the bases from Kimber leave a little to be desired. I was leaning towards Warne bases and rings. Anyone have any experience with the factory Kimber bases? Thanks for any info.

I like the Warne Weaver/cross-slot bases better, but they're hard to find. They're simpler, and I think, stronger. They're no longer being made by Warne, due to a dispute between Kimber and Warne companies. As far as I know, no one makes Weaver/cross-slot bases for the 84M today.

If you can't find them, Kimber, Leupold, Burris, and Millett all make "standard" bases that fit the 84M. They're "strong enough," and I'd have no concern about using them.

The reason I ask is that I've had a couple of people contact me, wondering if it was still being made.

I have two 84Ms, both wear the factory bases. I have had no problems with either set. When I bought my Kimbers no one else was making bases that fit.

Good to know others might have started.

Problem solved, Jaywalker is leaving the bases on for me. I didn't realize they were the Warne bases, that is the vey ones I wanted anyway. Thanks Jaywalker.
