I'm not a fan of the factory plastic mainspring housing regardless of whether it functions fine or not. I just don't want plastic in a 1911 style pistol. So, I replaced it with an Ed Brown mainspring housing from Brownells. Blued, gov't model, 25lpi. It looks good and is a true drop in fit. However, the base of it has a slight bevel that doesn't mate perfectly with the bottom of the grip (the corner where the mainspring housing retaining pin goes. That part of the gun has a sharp angle and isn't flush with the beveled mainspring housing. It's not very noticeable. You'd notice it if it was pointed out to you or if you were looking at it closely as if before buying a pistol. Except for that, the replacement part looks nice and matches the finish very well.
Have any of you bought a replacement mainspring housing that does line up with the angle of the rearward base of the grip? Suggestions? Thanks
