Anyone out there have one? What's your opinion of it?

My wife recently purchased one and it has turned out to be the biggest turd of a gun we have ever had. A real jammomatic. It seems as if it's a constant battle just to get that piece of crap to do it's thing.

The manual recomends using 124-147 grain ammo. We have used nothing but 124 grain Federal, Fiochi, Herters, Black Hills, American Eagle, and Winchester. It doesn't seem to matter what ammo we try, the end result always a jam followed with profanity.:cuss::cuss::cuss:

I got one for Christmas and sold it this last week. I only had a couple of fte issues with factory ammo (including 115 gr), but it hated reloads. My Husband reloads all of our plinking ammo and we never found a load that it liked with the 115. Granted, it wasn't the 124 like Kimber recommended, but it shot 115 factory loads fine. So, instead of loading up a separate load just for the Solo, I decided to sell it and get me an XD Compact .45. :)

It has a TON of potential. I hope they get the kinks worked out of it.

Have had one on order for over 15 months.....found out the dealer was listing them on Gun Broker rather than fill his orders, seems he was getting $300-$400 over MSRP. Don't need one that bad.

My LGS has a few, or did yesterday. They weren't allowing range testing of the gun, but I handled one and found it, at least at a glance, unremarkable. And it was 2X the price of competing firearms.

So I could buy a CM9 and an LC9 for the asking price of a Solo. Hmmm...

A shop near me has one that's available to rent...when it's not busted. Literally, every time it's shot, it has severe issues. It has been sent back to kimber on multiple occasions. They hate that gun.

FWIW:

I have a friend who is "big" on Kimbers (he has a small 1911 type Kimber) and asked my opinion on the new Solo because I try and keep up on firearms a bit more than he does.

I told him that I had read a lot of negative posts on many firearm forums about the new Solo, and that he might want to hold off buying one until they get the bugs fixed.

So, he passed, for now.

I like small 9's, but I elected to put my money on the new Boberg XR9-S. I'm still a couple of months away I guess on the pre-order list, and they HAVE had some teething issues, but it seems the majority of folks who already have 'em, love 'em..

Supposedly they had some new barrel design, which was supposed to make it so special. And.... it didn't work out so well. People were sending them back and wondering why Kimber was replacing barrels. Dunno if they changed the design of it or not.
