I'm getting ready to pick up a Kimber Stainless Ten II. This is a full size model and it still has an internal extractor. Anybody have any experience with this one? I've done alot of reading and get mostly good reviews, just looking for someone with hands on knowledge. I gather most Kimber complaints come from the external extractor, which this doesn't have, and the firing pin safety which I understand can be bypassed by using a series 70 firing pin if you are so inclined. What are your opinions? Thanx.

I've a BP Ultra Ten II (3") and BP Carry Ten II (4") both have the external extractor and have given me no problems, although the Ultra Ten II mags needed stronger springs to be reliable.

Only down side IMHO is Kimber's use of proprietary mags instead of the "wide body" standard Para Ordnance mags like Springfield and Armscor do with theirs.

I've got the ProCarry Stainless 10-II. It's failed to go into battery a few times early in its life, courtesy of a burr (now polished off) on the firing pin block plunger thingee, but that's been about the only issue. No feed issues, no extraction/ejection issues - it just goes BANG. I've got a little less than 10000 rounds thru it last I checked.

I did, after almost two years of searching, find a gentleman on this forum who had a couple of hi-caps that he was willing to sell to me. I paid $50 each for 'em, and was very pleased to have found them. They have a base pad that adds about 3/8" to the OAL of the grip frame, and getting in that last couple of rounds (13 round capacity) can be a chore. I'm not sure that carrying 3 more rounds was worth $50 per magazine, but now that I have them I'll not likely NOT use 'em. :)

The extractor thing has been blown way out of the water... go shoot it, funny thing is Kimber wants 250 to upgrade the older guns. That should tell you something.

I know you can only trust so much you read, but my personal opinion leans towards the internal extractor, that's why I feel it's great this gun has one. By the way, I thought the upgrade Kimber will do for $250 was to install the firing pin safety mechanism, I don't think they add an external extractor for this price, do they?
