Okay you got two 45acp rail guns at comparable prices. Which would be your pick as a homedef, ccw (not necessarily edc) pistol?

I really like my TLE/RL. My gun is 100% reliable an very accurate. I personaly do not like the triggers on Sig pistols. Go for the TLE.

i've handled and shot both extensively (well, not the TLE or R models, but members of their families) and...

if you mean home defense to include a bedside pistol, one you grab when you are startled awake in the middle of the night. i would recommend the 220. i just don't like a nightstand gun in condition 1 and i feel uncomfortable having to thumb back the hammer when reaching for one in condition 2 (i'd rather go all the way to condition 3 and rack the slide)

my 220 is my current bedroom pistol (as well as somtimes duty gun and CCW) because it was my first DA/SA with nightsights. before that i was using my beretta 96...i sorta like the option of a safety too

A few months ago I wanted to buy a Kimber TLE/RL, but I couldn't find one, so I ended up buying a Sig P220ST. However, once I had the P220ST in hand, I realized I should have held out and bought a TLE/RL. So, the P220ST went away, and I found a nice TLE (not RL though) to replace it. I've found I'm happier with the 1911 design, but that's just me (though I'm certainly not unique in this regard). I finally got my hands on a Sig GSR 1911 today, and I wish the store had one of those when I was originally looking to buy. I think the GSR would be my first choice if buying today.

This is the same exact situation that i am in.

Do I go for the Sig P220ST, S&W 99 or the Kimber/SA 1911 with a rail.

I'm leaning towards either the TLE/RL SS or the SA MC Operator.

The one(or two) advantage that the 1911 has is a manual safety. Atleast, you have to make be awake enough to grip the gun and release the manual safety. With the P220 all you have to do is pull the trigger.

The Sig 220ST would be my pick but either way if its
TLE vs Sig 220 your blessed with two great gun. The 220 has an awesome DA trigger.

Having owned both a good number of Sigs and Kimbers, I'm going with the 220 if it's a defensive weapon.

Yes, Kimber makes a great gun but I have 5k through both my 220's, and they have yet to fail or hiccup. Even shooting stuff my Kimbers would choke on they run like a dream.

That said, if I'm range shooting or competing, then Kimber all the way.
