Any owners of an Aegis Ultra here? Been thinking about one, I like it as it seems to be almost the same size as my Shield 9mm, and has some nice features. I'd like to know if they're known to be reliable. I had an Ultra Carry .45 that took a few boxes through it before becoming 100% reliable, certainly OK with doing the same with the Aegis, and shooting 9mm would certainly save a few bucks to break in. :)

I have the Pro Aegis, 4" model.

It has been reliable with certain factory ball and HP ammo.

While the Aegis are more slender than most 1911s, with its' thinner grip panels and bobbed slide release/ safety lever. It is a bit thicker than the Shield, and taller. I believe it takes a commanders magazine, 7 or 8 rounds.

I like the Pro, though it isn't a deep conceal/ pocket pistol.

Why I say certain ammo, the chamber in mine, though it is in SAAMI specs, will not take a cartridge, such as some 147 gr., that has too much bearing surface beyond the casing.

Interesting, kinda makes want to re-think the whole 3" 1911 idea.

I have heard/read several people being happy with their Kimber Ultras.

The ammo that I have used successfully is WWB, Federal 115 gr., Winchester Silver HP 115 gr., Winchester 124 gr. target, and Underwood 124 gr. HP +P.

The only unsuccessful ammo was Hornady's Signature HP 147 gr.

I thought I should make my earlier post a bit more clear. :)

Haha, well I'm glad you did... I was watching a youtube video from a "round table" perspective on the Ultra Aegis, and there were no malfunctions in each shooter's go with it.

I love the look and feel of it, pricey little gun but might be nice to have around.

I should add I just watched a shooting review of a new Kimber Ultra Sapphire in 9mm. Would not feed the 115gr Fiocchi or Monarch ammo yet it fed the hotter JHP loads just fine.
