After about 2 months of mental debate with myself, I finally decided on a Kimber Ultra Ten II as my new daily carry piece. No one makes exactly what I want, a 1911 with a polymer Officer's ACP sized single stack frame and a 4" top end, so....

Does anyone else out there have one of these, and if so, what are your impressions of it? I haven't had a chance to shoot mine yet, as I only bought it yesterday. I think I'm going to be pleased, overall, but I also think this is going to be a gun that gets carried a lot and shot a little.

On the negative side, I already don't like the captured recoil spring assembly, as it requires a special tool for disassembly (although this can be overcome with proper care.) Because of its design, you cannot just replace the worn springs; the two springs, the sleeve, and the rod must be replaced as a single unit.
I also noted that the slide stop is a bit tricky to remove, as the clearance cut on the off side of the frame just barely allows me to get enough leverage against the stop to begin pushing it out.

At any rate, as soon as I've had a chance to give it a workout, I'll post a range report.

I have one and mine has been really good, a local gunsmith told me he has had one come back to him and it had a magazine problem. There has been some bad things written about these on 1911 forums, but mine has been perfect......tom
