Kimber won't feed reliably

Recently, I have been having problems with my Raptor II. When I use the slide-stop lever to chamber another round, the slide might either close but not chamber a round or jam the round. I have never had any problem before, and the problem isn't really that big, it happens maybe 10% of the time. However, it is annoying. Any suggestions?

I tried lots of different brands and types of ammo. Had problems with every type.
 
How many rounds total through the gun? Type of magazine? My kimber WOULD not feed reliably with factory mags. I have three of them and all three jam every now and then. I bough some chip mcormicks and no more problems. Also, if you have a bunch of rounds through it, may want to look into a new recoil spring. I was having the same problems you were and the new stiffer spring fixed it. I bought it from wolff gunsprings.
 
First thing that comes to my mind is a weak or worn recoil spring. I would buy another spring, put it in there and see what happens.

If you shoot a lot, you'll want to get another spring eventually anyway.

What happens when you try to load by "slingshot-ing" the slide?
 
Might be his clip. I've seen brand new out of the bag fail. The opening of the upper lips could be out of tolerance. It happened to me with my Springfield. Get a micrometer and check. If you are unsure, take the clip to your local gun shop... Hell, take the whole thing and let them shot some rounds. Gun shop people are nice... and knowledgeable too.
 
What happens to the round when it misfeeds? If it steeply nose-dives into the feed ramp, I would suspect a worn magazine spring.

To only "slingshot" the slide when chambering a round is not acceptable to me. Any pistol should feed by just tripping the slide stop; one that will not has something wrong with it. You don't always have both hands available, and the operation can also be fumbled (e.g., inadvertently "riding" the slide as it runs home).
 
I used a friend's factory-new magazine, and it malfunctioned less...

...but still malfunctioned. I am currently looking into a new recoil spring.
 
The extractor may need to be tensioned...it sounds like it may be too tight which is odd if it ran fine before...unless it's got a lot of firing residue crowding it in it's channel not letting it work properly....try giving the extractor and channel a good cleaning and check it's tension (instructions in the gunsmithing forum). I'd try to borrow a KNOWN good magazine such as a factory Colt 7rd with a dimpled follower to try as well...some of Kimber's magazines aren't known for reliable function. Unless you've fired over 2,000 rds, the recoil spring should be fine..if you have fired that many or more, then it's time for a new (16lb) spring....
