I am travelling my commercial airline to Philadelphia, PA and then driving on to Atlantic City, NJ (for business, not just gambling!).

I know my FL CWP is not valid and I can't bring along a gun. What about a 4" tactical folding knife?

Can a put such a knife in my checked baggage?

Can I carry such a knife in PA and NJ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

With regards to the Fed (TSA)...

No problem with checked in baggage.

Although the TSA recommends leaving your luggage unlocked. I always lock my luggage when flying. I also bring a knife with me in my checked luggage. It's my property and I'm not going to leave it open. If they want to search my luggage after it is checked in, they can page me and search it in my presence. Last time I flew the TSA screener swabbed by luggage, but wouldn't let me touch it in order to lock it. I requested that he lock it before putting it on the conveyor belt. He did.

Since the TSA has recommended leaving luggage unlocked, claims for lost property has skyrocketed. The airlines response is don't put anything valuable in your checked luggage. Someone needs a serious reality check.

You don't want that knife mysteriously disappearing.

For years we tried to get people to lock their darn bags and now we tell them not to. Its like looking at Customs in a 3rd world country. I've seen TSA open stuff up and toss it aside and then just push it back into the bag. Whats next? Don't fold your clothes. The Police have busted sevral TSA's for stealing personal items, including check books and video taping them selfs stealing with other peoples cameras and putting them back into diffrent peoples bags. The whole Idea of them sucks! IMO.
