Exactly. This is one of the absurdities of gun control. Even if somehow it produced the desired results and stopped all criminals from using firearms to commit crimes, they just turn to something else.

Ban that, they just turn to something else yet again. Where does it end?

That wouldn't have anything to outlawing guns would it? Honetst question here. I do remember reading somewhere that the banning of guns would lead to more violent deaths as injuries because A knife doesn't give a criminalk nearly the confidence a gun does, i.e. they are more likely to ACTUALLY USE a knife than they would a gun.

Well, they don't need to have any metal in/on them to be banned. I can't think of which states, but there's states in the US and IIRC Britain that consider a clad foot as a deadly weapon if used against someone.

So what are they gonna do, take away steak and kitchen knives? The whole "take away their weapons" thing doesn't even apply here, even if it were true. In theory, if you removed all of the guns from the world, gun crime would drop, because building a gun is complicated(we of course know that you can't remove them all, nor should we try). Not so with a knife. Any criminal can make a pointy or sharp weapon in 5 minutes. You will NEVER get rid of pointy hand held weapons. Ever.

My understanding is that there is a push to mandate all kitchen knives in england to be rounded, no pointy tips. How long until the politicos figure out that there are things called "prison shanks" in this world??

They're gonna have to outlaw all wood, plastic, glass, stone and metal too. Any og those materials found in pretty much anything can be made into a weapon in about 5 minutes. Like Tyris said, prison shanks aren't hard to make. Even inmates who have everything they own and touch closely monitored still manage to make them by the thousands. Pointed weapons even grow on trees: they are trees. Just take a sharp sturdy branch, and you've got a stabbing weapon.

This is absurd. Sounds like a nation of victims to me. What they're basically saying is you will be attacked, you will not be able to defend yourself, if you try you'll only make it worse, so you might as well just give in and hope it's over quickly.
